same thing happened as you when i tried the sf's but i dont havea digital dash.

couldnt figure it out lol, burn was good,(@8000) verified good, didnt work
It sounds like even if I didn't have the digital dash I would still have the same issues from what was said above.
So did you get another part # chip to work?

I use those chips. You have to offset the code to start at 8000 (second half of the chip).

I talked to the guy that burned my chip and asked him about the offset. He told me that he didn't offset it so that is most likely my problem, right? He had mostly dealt with the 92 + cars so He didn't know to do the offset. do the 92+ chips require the same offset?
Please educate me a little on the chip /offset deal, with no offset my computer is looking at a blank area on the chip? so I was in limp mode when I had the chip installed? so why did the car not run at all when I rotated the chip around(i wanted to make sure I didn't have it in backwards)? was it seeing the program but everything was backwards because the chip was backwards?

It is not year dependent, its chip dependent. Stock chip is a 27C256. 27SF512 is twice as big. You have to write to the last half for your chip for the ECM to see data. Otherwise its not seeing any data.

Thank you for your assistance, I never would have been able to figure this out w/o help!

You were right, I got the chip back with the correct offset and it works!

              Thank everyone that replied!
