  • FS 91 Grand prix 3.4 DOHC 5 speed

$1500 OBO. Swapped to the 284 5 speed transmission and the 3.4 DOHC a couple years ago. Really is best as a parts car unless you can do paint/body work. Ill have the pics up soon.

Transmission shifts great, no grinding. Clutch has about 50k on it and works great. I don't beat on it or race it so it is still in great shape. Engine was rebuild about 50k ago with hypereutectic pistons .030 over, total seal rings, balanced bottom end. I ported the heads and lower intake, set the cam timing to 6/6 and it has less than 10k on the timing belt and components.

Koni rear struts, GMPP rear trailing arms with poly bushings, 95 convertible front strut tower brace. Leather cutlass seats, red interior. Single exhaust setup with a high flow cat and flowmaster delta 40 muffler. Tires still have lots of tread left but I don't know what % it is.

Rust on teh rear fender wells, paint is peeling, front bumper is tweaked a little from being hit in the front end by a truck in a parking lot. Black hood, red trunk.

If it didnt run so good I wouldn't even try to ask for 1500 but given the drivetrain condition and the parts on it I figured I would start there. New fuel pump as well though the checkball in it is bad so the fuel drains back to the tank after a bit. Gotta turn the key off and on a couple times to prime the system.

Forgot to add, new subframe bushings and rack were put in less than 10k miles ago as well. FFP dogbone and underdrive pulley. I have tuned this pretty well on the street and recently go more top end out of it by cutting the spark back some and the fuel a lot because of it. Haven't been to the track with its current setup so I dunno what it can do. I can't race a manual transmission anyway so it doesn't matter.

I will also consider selling just the drivetrain for a reasonable offer. I can use the rest of the parts off the car.

if it comes down to it, let me know how much for the 5 speed setup. not a ton of room left in the budget but i fear once i get out there for cam timing and proper tuning, + my new toy, 4T60-E asplode.

Id like to get 700 for the engine given its age and modifications plus tuned chip for 91-93 setup. It has a set of light lifters as well( forgot to add that). Probably more I am forgetting. New power steering lines, 10k old driver side hub and axle.

Id rather sell the engine than the trans between both as I wouldn't mind swapping to a pushrod later on. Id want 500 for the trans setup with whatever. Really don't wanna tear it apart for the firewall plate if I don't have to. Ill put the dogbone on my other DOHC car along with the subframe with rack if I part it. Just easier to sell the car whole since it really does run great but looks like a beater.

There is no stereo, tweeters will come out...deck needs a faceplate so it stays.

ben,as i mention before the car is in the shop and it will cost me $2,400 to rebuilt the engine ( that it sounds fair to you ).i would like to stick the engine you selling . you been great giving advice to people.what do you recomend, stick a rebuilt engine for that money or go with an engine like tou have (with the mods i really want).

in your shoes, if you can get the motor to you, i'd toss in ben's motor already done and known as a good engine with the work done by a trusted and knowledgable 3.4 DOHC guy as opposed to having someone rebuild yours for $1700 more and wondering if they will do it right.

I have personally ridden in Bens car, and it runs and drives great. I know it has been taken good care of too. $2,400 for a rebuilt engine seems a little steep when you could have a good running engine for less than half the cost.

$300 more and ill go dyno tune it for you Yeah, this is a much better deal than 2400 for a rebuilt engine. I could probably get 1000+ for this engine easily on ebay to the fiero crowd, especially dyno tuned. That was my next step if no one here wanted it. Trans setup is no problem, pedals and cables and all that. I have an extra cable too. You will probably want to make new bushings for the shifter cables while its out.
