  • Considering Selling My 95z 5spd 3400 Swap

I am considering selling my 95 Z26 that I did the 3400 and 5 spd swap in. I wanted to test the waters first and see if there would be any interest or not. The car runs and drives good (a little jerky sometimes but I think its the stage 3 clutch) The big hard part is done which would be swapping the 3400 and 5 spd in. There are a few little things that need finished up. The speedo needs hooked up, reverse lights, temp gauge, front sway bar needs put in, and it needs aligned. The engine is an 03 3400 fully rebuilt with new gaskets and bearings (when I bought it was supposed to be a great running engine, well it wasnt so I had to rebuild it). The 5 spd was out of a 90 gtz with 76k miles, I then pulled another 5 spd from a v6 and swapped bellhousings. So it has the gtz tranny with the better gearing and it rips pretty good. I also swapped over to the manual steering rack while I had the engine out. I still have all the power steering stuff to go back in if wanted. I've put a lot of time and money into this car but I could really use the money for school. Any questions just ask, like I said I wanted to test the waters maybe get a ballpark figure of what I could possibly get. Thanks, Kevin

I'm looking to get $3500 and I'm located in zip code 17740

Wow lots of work put into that. I'd try to hold on to it if I were you! I'd love to have that car.

    1) Any rust on it? Can you zoom in on the rocker panels really close?

    2) Why doesnt the speedometer work? Just the wire not plugged in??

    3) Does the sway bar not fit? How come it's not in?

    4) Did you hook up the EGR valve? or is it plugged and the sensor wire dangling?

    5) Is the exhaust stock or larger? What cat/muffler?

The car is solid as far as rust goes. I can get some pictures of the rockers if you 'd like. The speedo doesnt work because I havent gotten around to finding the right wires and hooking it up. The sway bar fits I busted one of the C clamps that holds it down when I was taking off the subframe pieces to pull the engine out. I have new bolts for the ends that go into the A arms. And honostly I forgot about the swaybar while trying to hurry up and get it done before school was out last semester.

Is the speedometer just a problem of the wrong harness plug? But it is a digital speedometer on the transmision right? Not cable?

Do you have all parts for the sway bar to go back on? If I were to get this, and drive it back, I'd need the sway bar in and aligned for the trip back, and probably the speedometer so I didn't get pulled over! lol.

        6) Also what brand clutch?
        7) How many miles on the body?
the trans mount, was welded in and is aligned properly? How many miles have you put on the car since the 5spd swap?

I can pull a C clamp off my brother car before it goes to the yard if need be for the sway bar, thats all I need to get it back on. I know the sensor on the tranny is electronic, I made sure it was when I bought it. I use the rpms to tell the speed as of now. I had my friend drive next to me and in 5th gear 2500 rpm is 55 mph. Heres the pics of the rockers, nice and solid.

lol go and edit your post on me. I forgot the clutch is the ebay stage 3, its a little different to drive than a normal clutch but when you get used to it its not bad. 155k miles on the body of the car, I've put about 600 or so miles on the car since its been done, maybe more. Everything should be aligned correctly, got it as close as we could to where the stock mount goes. I do want to grind down and re-weld the mount, I had to use stupid flux core and its not as nice as I want even though its held up fine. Oh it does need a battery tray, the battery is just kind of wedged in there. It does have newer shocks and struts on it. And the muffler has a hole in the top of it, I realized that today when it melted stuff in my trunk. oops, I have a muffler I'll throw in if you want.

yeah sorry for the edits. I keep thinking of things. lol 2500 at 55mph wow. What's 70mph RPM? My 3100 is like 1900 or so at 70mph!! Big difference in gearing wow!!
So exhaust is stock then right?

Do you have the exhaust manifold heatshields? Anything missing besides radio and fuse cover on the interior? I think that covers most of it all.

            Thanks.

Upclose shots of the inside of the rockers, by the door jambs down low is what I'm after. They like to rust from the inside out and then bublbe up the paint...

oh up by the hinges near wear the speaker kick panels are? and yea the exhaust is stock, I do have all the manifold heat shields. I thought 55 at 2500 was pretty good compared to my old 2.8 with the th125, I'll double check the speed and see what 70 mph is.

Yes those are the pics. Looks good so far, maybe rusty inside but it hasn't broke through like a lot of berettas. Yeah my 94 at 75mph isn't even 2500 rpm, lol. If I drive that back it'll probably eat a lot of gas reving high. I take it since it's a 90 gtz trans then the gear ratio is like 3.6 or something?

Is the upper intake manifold a pre 2000? Do you have an EGR adapter mounted or something?

EDIT: What is the wire coming from the fuse box go to?

I made an adapter using the old plenum, I cut off the old egr plate. It will line up with the holes in the new plenum but I have an aluminum plate in there blocking it off. So it looks like it works and if you really did want it to work it would without the plate in there. The wire coming from the fuse box is the previous owners fantastic way to make the fan run. Its on all the time with how they have it setup, I havent gotten around to making it look nicer. I think that is what the ratio for the gtz tranny is, I'll check and see for sure.

It's probably the fan relay is bad. That happened on mine. did they cut any wires to do that or is it easily reversable?

The plenum, is it an 2000+ and is it modified in any way other than the bolted on adapter?

The battery, will it fit a stock battery tray?

The connector for the fan is connected right to the wires that go to the fuse box, I would assume the wires are still there for it in the harness. How do I tell if its the 2000+ plenum? The engine is an 03 but it didnt come with the plenum I had to buy it seperate. No its not modified any other way besides the adapter and some muffler cement to seal it. And I do have a battery that will fit in the stock battery tray, I just dont have the tray it was busted so I took it out.
