Not insane, probably in the 10.x:1 range. 3500 heads are 32 cc and 3400 heads are in the 28cc range.

So should I get 3500 heads for my 3400 block?
Then will the 3500 intakes all have to go on there?

I still like the thread about port and polishing your motor with the heads still on.

The guy who wrote that made it sound like it was the way to do it!

"....crank the motor up to 4000 RPM and slowly start pouring the white sand in the TB..."

      HA!!! loved it!!!!!

A "true" High flow converter, straight pipe.
Low/No flow EGR valve, block off plate.
Carbon canister and purge valve mod, place in large 30 Gallon can, cover, and place curbside, the city will do the rest.
PCV valve and vent tube, reroute to exhaust to dump where it belongs, on the ground. Or add breathers and let it all free.

It's unfortunate that this thread deteriorated to the previous tone, but I feel it necessary to mention that I just went and checked the cam in my 2005 3500 from the G6 currently upside down on an engine stand and noted that an approximately 8 inch long screw driver went all the way into that center hole until the handle hit the end of the cam. So I guess I didn't get one of those solid camshafts.

Couldn't you just have played "telescope" with it to determine that?

Ha Ha, no it's still in the block, I didn't know GM had a problem with roller cam failure that's kind of scary.

I think the roller cam failures is more due to the Leaking LIM than the cam being hollow.

Don't feel bad, I too have a 3500 cam and it is hollow. The 3500 cam is the same part # as the 3400 cam. However where it gets interesting is that the 3400 Equinox cam has a different part #
