goooooood!cause none of you know anything!first of all the cam isnt the same for the simple fact that the 3100 and the 3400 have a hollow cam which was a problem with them breaking.gm corrected that problem with the 3500.look at the diffrence in torque between the 2.i guess that doesnt count for nothing either?

I wouldn't call it a 30hp gain. More like a 16hp gain. Why? The 2005 3400 was available in several body styles, ranging from 170hp to 185hp. And they all used the same parts. So how can you have that much difference with the same parts?! Alot has to do with the exhaust and tuning. Since the 3500 has a much better exhaust setup (the manifold design and the fact that they dump individually and don't join until under the car), I would say there is a good chance there was a significant gain there.

And as far as having a block in front of me to look at, like I mentioned before, I do... I also have 2 3100 blocks right next to it to compare, and I can tell you right now that the differences are not significant enough for a 30hp (or even 16hp) gain from just the block.

Care to show some proof that the top end is not where the power gain is? I got proof it is. Ill prove it with this engine im building right now.

Ill post the stock flow numbers once I have my flowbench testing complete. Best of luck on ebay.

ok, well then how'd gm up the horsepower in the 3.1 from 140 to 160-165 in the 3100???? musta been the displacement gain.. o ..... wait....... there wasnt one, hmmmm....... and if were gonna go that far, how did the 3.4 tdc get more hp than the 3.1 or 3400 when there almost identical blocks???

no you are mistaken.they didnt get a 30 horsepower gain from the heads.i have a set of 3500 heads and there not big enough to get that gain.so on that note if you had a 3500 block on the floor and a 3400 piston you would see where the 30 horses are coming from.

Sorry, but you are mistaken. The block is not where the power is hince only .1L more displacement over older 3400 engine. Now where the 3500 engine picks up it's is in the redesigned heads and manifolds, and tuning.
I have the complete 3500 top end along with headers on my 3400 block, and have done alot of research and testing with Ben (sappyse107). It will cost alot more to get the 3400 heads to flow more than stock 3500 heads, and the end results will be similar.

with that attitude, you won't be around very long, talking to the guy that runs the show like that.
Pat, the 3500 cam is the same as the 3400 cam.

Tell me again what my car has to do with your engines? Ill pay 200 more for a complete 3500. 350 for a block no one here can use without modifications is pretty funny.
