I like how it has rust on it. Its worth 500 bucks but I wouldn't have faith in it considering its outside condition. He seems to understand the exhaust ports changed for 96 but doesn't know that he has the 91-95 heads. I have seen those on ebay before listed as his last one. Makes you wonder. Good luck on the paypal/ebay dispute. It seems he lists it as perfect internal condition which yours was not. Was it the same wording in the auction you won?

Maybe $350 for a set if they are new and in good condition... and you really should have said all the info about the engine when you first posted. this definetly is not a "new engine" it is someone who thought they were a mechanic and built it up, no way that is a GM reman'd engine.

Yep, I definitely realized it wasn't new nor reman'd by gm after the shop pulled it apart and found all the shit that was f*ed up internally. I hope i get my money back from this cocksucker. I'd love to go back to ohio and throw each piece individually through his front window. It's almost exactly the same wording as the auction I purchased. I waited to leave feedback to see if he would be civil and allow me to return the engine, but he did not. By the time i realized he was going to be a dickhead it was too late to leave feedback. not to sound like we are all against you or anything but $250 is a decent offer for a set of heads. i would take it if i were you if the dispute doesn't work out.

What i do not understand is why would you go on ebay... pay $1500 for an engine... and $200 shipping... when you could get one from your local junkyard for about... $100? or more, then take it to a machine shop and have it all taken care of for around $300... the price might be diffrent on the shop for you. i know the machinist so dunno if hes getting me a good price or not.

Not really. If there is a U pull it place that sells engines for 100 bucks then you can get one with rear end damage and get a good motor possibly. I got a free motor that I can turn the crank and put new bearings/rings in and have a running motor. But to get it to new status its gonna cost a lot more for bore/hone and all parts.

ok, speaking as someone who bought a brand new 96-97 LQ1, and yes they are different from the 91-95 engines (other modifications to those were OUTSIDE the crate engine part, and yes they did make a 97 LQ, you can find them in the very early model 97 bodies of Grand Prixs, and a few people who ordered there 97 Cutlasses by parts from the dealers). That looks like a 91-95 crate engine part, the heads look a bit different on the 96-97. It does look new.. some of the things i see there come on the engine in the crate, but it also looks as if it crashed hard against the oil filter, and it was left exposed to the weather (rain/snow). My 96-97 crate engine cost me $1300 from a dealership in michigan, i saw them drop as cheap as $1000 for the brand new engine (but it was hawaii) for the 91-95 with an average mean of 1400 last year between feb and july. Dealerships don't have them anymore, they made room for the newer DOHC engines that GM is going to super mass produce across the world.

No 97 grand prixs got the DOHC. The monte carlo got the DOHC in 97 as it was phased out of production.

At the U-Pull-It(junkyard) that I go to, motors are a flat price:125 bucks, no exceptions. A guy has walked out of there with an LS1 from a totalled Camaro for 120 bucks. I kid you not(No, I don't have proof. I wish to shit I did, no one ever believes me). I've bought three 3.1s from there, no problems with two(third had a blown headgasket) and I've bought heads, and entire LQ1s from them. If you are lucky enough to live by a place that sells parts at a flat rate, you can make some scorching deals. I've gotten a DIC for 2 bucks, the guy thought it was a speedometer. I also picked up a HUD projector, dahspad, controls, and interior wiring harness for 25 bucks(Sold it). It's veeery nice to live by this particular yard. They're even starting to get L67 cars in, so at this rate, I may yet accomplish my goal of an M90 for cheap(All turbochargers and superchargers, from Mitsubishi TD04s and Eaton M45s, on up to GT60s, MP112s, and Whipplechargers sell for a flat rate too: 25dollars.) The only issue, is if you don't start the car and run it, you have no idea what you're gonna get.
