  • Need a 3400 Motor Low miles

    Greetings,

I have a 95 Acheiva. It has all new brakes, all new suspension, and six months ago I fixed the intake gaskets from leaking coolant (3.1). The *itch just blew her heads. I saw a thread on doing a 3400 swap on her, so now I'm on the look out for a 3400 motor. Anyone got one? Also, willing to sell this motor for parts once I get a 3400. It's a small leak, took her 2 days of driving to finally put some water vapor into the oil cap. I dumped the oil and didn't see any pooling water, she also has a slight miss at idle, and I can see fuel vapors in the coolant. It's an all stock motor, the only thing I would recommend for it is a good core and intake cores to someone who wants 'em.
Mainly looking for that 3400, prefer one from '04 for the low mileage.

    Thanks

A "true" High flow converter, straight pipe.
Low/No flow EGR valve, block off plate.
Carbon canister and purge valve mod, place in large 30 Gallon can, cover, and place curbside, the city will do the rest.
PCV valve and vent tube, reroute to exhaust to dump where it belongs, on the ground. Or add breathers and let it all free.

Good luck!! 3400swap.com and domesticcrew.com will help you with the details of the swap.

But keep the camshaft position sensor that comes with the 3400. And you'll need an EGR adapter. Check the articles section on here for $5 EGR adapter. I grabbed the part from an old 3.1mpfi motor to use on my 94 3100 because I'm putting a 3500 plenum on mine and it has the same new style egr mount.

I have a problem with being a pack rat so not throwing out the crank snesor won't be a problem. Don't I have to use the one off of the 3.1 though? I am already looking at worked heads, cam, lower intake, injectors and a reprogrammed ecm, and the 3500 Plenum, too. All from Miltzy Motorsports. I plan on running street hook ups on a piece of straight pipe and on my converter so I can easily swap the converter in when I have to get the car checked as well as throwing the stock ECM in and putting on the EGR just for the emissions test, then yanking it off for the rest of the time. We have to get the test done once every 2 years so I figure the little bit of work of swapping is worth it.
I would like a set of Tube headers for it and last question to all out there...
will a 4t65E swap in? If so I know a place that is building severe/race duty built ones with your choice of stall converter. The trans is only $2500 or so.

Have you checked our store here? There is really no reason to go with larger injectors unless you are going boost or very extreme NA.

I need to get a message to Chris Rook for the engine mount. Unless there is another one out there?

There is nothing plug n play for the 95 that im aware of. You will need to either go with OBD2 or older OBD1 with a remoavable chip. I think the OBD2 route with a tuner would be the way to go but you have to wire more things in.

Crank sensors are the same AFAIK. The cam changed on the later year motors, and you need the same year sensor to convert the signal. So use whatever CAM sensor that comes with the 3400. I belive 3400swap says to re-use your old, but that's wrong.
