RE: price question dohc topend
what year?
just guestimation
91-95........200 plus shipping
96.............250 plus shipping
97.............325+ plus shipping
basically, it all depends on timing. if you are looking when some1 is liquidating, you will get it much cheaper. if you are just fishing around expect to pay what is above. The Official Rotating Mass Nazi

mostly the intakes are the key.
91-93 have a map sensor on the passenger back side of the plenum
94-95 simply have a vacuum block there in the exact same spot and a mass air flow sensor is in the intake tube
96-97 have a completely different plenum altogether but in that exact same spot you'd look for that sensor you will see the coilpacks.
telling a 96 from a 97 is a whole different animal. if the whole assy is in the car or the tranny is attached, it is much easier. 96's have a 4t60e and 97's have a 4t65e. the difference is the 4t60e has a vacuum modulator and a 65 does not.
if there is no tranny in there or a car it is in you really have to know the vacuum routing to tell. on the intake arm there is a connection for the modulator and on the 97 i believe there is not. hope this helpsThe Official Rotating Mass Nazi

Nope, not gonna work. You gotta use the DOHC block (unless you are a fiero owner with a prototype aluminum block and think you know it all...then you can use your prototype block with the DOHC setup and run external oiling lines and such). The lifter bores in the pushrod block would have to be welded shut, oiling substantially redone, drainback holes made, weld the top of the block shut, etc. Get the whole motor if you want the DOHC engine.Ben
