Long story short - When my wife and I moved to New York a few months ago, the moving company broke my Alienware computer.
The problem was traced to a voltage issue that was sending voltage spikes across the system. Basically, either the power supply had gone south, or the motherboard had been damaged. Either way, the only way to fix it was to replace one/both parts and see if the problem went away. I would have none of this, and got the moving company to pay up for a new system. That being said, I am parting out the rest of the system.
NOTE: The power supply and the motherboard are the likely source of the problem. I am very hesitant to sell them, as I am not sure which one of them has a problem, but if someone really wants them, let me know. The rest of the components listed have been tested thoroughly and have no problems whatsoever.
Some parts have already been sold to other people, but here is the list of remaining components:
LiteOn 52X CD-ROM drive (black) - $20 shipped
Sound Blaster Audigy-MP3+ - $50 shipped
Chaintech Video Card (GeForce FX5200 chipset, AGP, 128MB RAM) - $40 shipped
Enermax System Monitor Panel (fits in 5.25" bay; contains firewire, audio in/out, 2X USB 2.0 jacks; displays two temps and two fan speeds) - $25 shipped
Floppy Drive (black) - $10 shipped
10/100 Ethernet card - $10 shipped
**Green Alienware Case (has a number of scratches/scuffs on front and side of case, thanks to moving company; Also, latch on front case door is broken off, again thanks to moving company; Otherwise, case is solid, works very well)
$30 + shipping
**This case is indeed damaged. However, Alienware does NOT sell their cases seperately, and I have seen their cases go for well over $100 on Ebay. I set the price at this level to account for its age (3 yrs), and the damaged it sustained at the hands of the moving company. By default, the case will NOT come with the power supply, as I am not sure if it is damaged or not (see top of this post). However, if you want it, I'll throw it in, but you take the PS at your own risk.
***The video card and sound card will come with all appropriate paperwork and driver discs.
Thanx!
