FS: 96/96 DOHC intakes and other various parts for the swap
Thanks, got them today. Can't use them cause they are ported though. The lower intake gaskets are for 91-95 as well so those aren't any good either:P Did someone JB weld this lower intake and the TB arm?
I'm not sure what happend to that intake arm. I had sandblasted it, but it seemed to not be coming off. I didn't even inspect the gaskets that were sent to me, so it appears I lost out on a set of gaskets I could use. Oh well, no big loss to me.
Im not installing these on my car. I wanted to flowbench them with the heads and do some comparing. I wanted to CC the runners on the 91 and 96 lower intake. It's ported, so I can't use it for that. I need to know how these 2 stock setups are setup so I can evaluate something before I go making something. Its all good though, I can port this out and see what its capable of, I just won't have stock vs stock anymore. I wanted to have the results for the site so I can have stock numbers and values on all the engines. We don't have that many engines so this shouldn't be too difficult.
The EGR spot on the arm is gone. Not in the best condition, im gonna see how sanding on it goes. I think Ill have to JB weld the hole and shape it how it needs to go. Its already got a blob of something, maybe JB weld already. The lower intake though...i honestly don't know what is going on with that. I was wondering how a fire in the engine bay was going to melt something on it. If you know, how did the engine catch on fire? Its not common, not sure if I know of any other DOHC catching on fire other than probably a fiero.
Ill have to find the bolts and get a set of gaskets. These weren't any good anyway so you probably didnt want to use them anyway.
i assumed the car was on fire cause there was black soot all over them that came off in your hands.. it couldnt have been bad cause all that insulation goo they had stuck to it was not melted. just from lookin at the intakes when chris brought them over to blast, it looked like there was a fire over the transmission somewhere maybe from trans fluid or leaky o-ring catching fire on the crossover from the concentration of the soot.
