RE: WTB 96-97 engine harness and pcm

I'm going OBD 2 also. You'll need a computer, engine wiring, a new coolant temp sensor since they went to a new one, and a MAF if you don't have one. Assuming that 1994 is the same as 1995, you'll want to stick with 1996 PCM and wiring harness.

I spent a little under $160 for the wiring harness and PCM. I bought the MAF used for $40, but you may not need one if your car already has one, mine didn't.

I found my wiring harness and PCM using car-part.com and ended up buying from Action Auto Parts http://www.actiontx.com/

from what i have gathered the pcms are alot more tunable and if you want boost it is definately best if you have a pressure sensor. i don't want to go to the bach fire system that the 91-93 uses for a pressure sensor. the 96-97 is sfi and it uses both a MAF and a pressure sensor.

but i will have to weigh out the cost of the tunable pcm versus a standalone system.

I would definitely say go with the OBD 2 swap and get the DHP Powertuner. I've only collected parts at this point, but I'll give more feedback when the swap is complete. I'm waiting till it's warmer outside. Only thing I'm really worried about right now is that I might have to splice into the tranny wiring harness (not sure about this yet). As of now I haven't identified anything else that might pose a problem. I believe that the C100 connectors are the same, but I'm not 120% sure on that either. Other than that, things seem to look good.

you know if the tranny connectors are the same? as far as hooking up the engine that is np b/c i have a 96 engine in my car already. i am in no hurry either i plan on going to boost in conjunction with the obd2 upgrade. so dhp stuff works on obd2 3.4 dohc pcm's?

No, since you have the DOHC, you are pretty much screwed with aftermarket PCM support. I'd go to a 93 ECM with the PROM for a DOHC before I went to a FLASH-tpe PCM.
