  • WTB: Getrag 282 intermediate shaft bracket (pic)

i really need an intermediate shaft bracket for a Getrag 282. this is the bracket that holds the end of the intermediate shaft to the engine block. i was an idiot and sold mine (in pic below) to Davis because i thought there were a few 5-speed GPs in the local yards i could get another one from. well one of the cars was already crushed, and the other had everything but the bracket and intermediate shaft :? so i'm kinda screwed.

here is what it looks like:

if anyone has one or can get one let me know! fwiw it is not hard to pull the bracket off with the engine/trans/axles in the car. thanks

The 2.8/3.1 engines with TH125 transmissions used a very similar bracket to stabilize the passenger side of the trans to the engine. I have never looked at the two brackets side-by-side, but they are very similar. These TH125 brackets should be very common in the JY's.

If it's the same as the 284, I have one. Let me know if you want it.

I found the TH125 bracket and compared it to the W-body 282 bracket, and it is slightly different. If you want, I could fab one up for you. PM or email me for details: mdurbanc@yahoo.com

well i'm heading to a salvage yard in a few minutes about 1.5 hrs away to get some Turbo Dodge parts with my brother. i am positive they have a few J/L bodies with V6/5-speeds, so i hopefully i can find one that will work.

                      wish me luck

If the J/L body has the exposed intermediate shaft, it will not work, as the bearing and bracket are completely different. Some of the J/L bodies used the enclosed shaft, like the W-body, but it was 2" shorter, so I don't know if it would mount in the exact same orientation. Just something to watch out for

thanks for the heads up. that is what i was worried about actually...i wasn't sure if the intermediate shaft was different than the W-body one or not. this same salvage yard had an '88 GP 2.8/282 last year but it has been crushed already.....dammit i should have gotten parts from that car while i had the chance

oh well i'll take a look anyway.

I got mine from a v6/5spd beretta, exactly the same as a w-body one.
