  • Trade? Turbo 5-speed '91 Cutlass Supreme sedan...

most of the info and some pics of the car here:

good: much much faster than it looks; it's quite the sleeper. the car would likely manage a very low 14 second ET at almost 100mph at low elevation with a good launch. decent interior, never smoked in and i've always tried to keep it clean. LOTS of new parts, ecspecially the brakes, suspension and tires (all new since summer/fall 2006). runs GREAT!! good oil pressure, no blowby, no smoking. no problems at all. transmission shifts smoothly, no funny noises from the transmission, engine or anywhere else. NO rust at all, and NO hail damage. clean Wyoming title and history. new waterpump and Magnecor KV85 wires in the spring of 2006. newer Melling 95HV oil pump, timing chain set and gaskets and seals everywhere in the summer/fall of 2005. new Autometer gauges installed last fall. new Walbro 255 HP fuel pump & filter installed just last week. the gas tank was thoroughly flushed & cleaned. there are so many new parts on the car since summe 2005 it would take me forever to remember them all. i would drive this car to Miami and back without a 2nd guess.

problems: high miles but has always been taken care of!, some flaws to be expected with a 16 year old car with almost 250,000 miles. the paint is bad but only in some spots, but it still looks pretty nice from 15ft. rear passenger side door window only rolls up 98% of the way but i haven't noticed much wind noise and the only time water gets in is at the car wash or when it's raining really hard (the window was smashed out a few years ago and i suspect a chunk of broken glass is stuck in the regulator or something). carpet in front is pretty dirty but could be cleaned up, no holes or anything. dashpad is warped badly and HUD doesn't sit correctly. 18" crack in windshield way over on the driver's side but not in my view so i never even notice it enough to want to replace it. the gas gauge is also innaccurate. it stays on full forever and then it runs out of gas at 1/4 tank displayed on gauge. i think it the sending unit that is the problem. sometimes it will work so maybe the contacts on the potentiometer are just dirty. i might dump a can of Seafoam in the tank to see if that cleans it up....i don't know.

i took pics of all of the flaws here:

i've never once waxed or claybarred the car in the 7 years i've owned it and i'm sure it would look alot better if that were done. the front and rear bumper should be repainted though, as well as the lower side of the driver's side rear door. there is also a silver dollar sized spot of paint missing on the passenger side rear door and two small door dings on that door and a very small dent on the driver's side fender that could probably be removed with paintless dent repair (there is no crease - see all pics). otherwise the car is straight and rust free and no hail damage.

what i want is a '92-'95 Bonneville SSEi. preferably stock, must run and drive long distances without problems, must have power moonroof, and it can't be bright red. i don't want a car with any rust or major body damage or hail damage. i don't really care about high miles so long as it has obviously been taken care of. no trashy interiors. i'll also consider a non supercharged '92-'95 Bonneville SSE if i like it enough. i can handle minor problems but i don't want anything with brown transmission fluid, or an engine that burns alot of oil or smokes.

so if anyone out there has one and is willing to trade, let me know if you have something (i'd prefer a PM). or who knows, maybe you know of an SSE/SSEi that fits this description for sale cheap and would be willing buy it and trade for a quick Turbo 5-speed Cutlass? i'd be willing to deliver depending on location or preferably meeting halfway....that way both parties know the cars are dependable enough for a long drive and we'd each be responsible for gas and trip expenses etc.

i might also consider an '89-'91 SHO or a '91-'92 Spirit R/T but it would have to be in the same condition as what i'm looking for in an SSE/SSEi. i might consider trading down to a factory V6/5-speed Corsica LTZ or a V6 Corsica hatchback. yes i'm kind of picky and i like sedans i just want something different to play with. but what i'm really looking for is an SSEi or SSE, '92-'95 only.

    thanks
    Joshua Mitchell

whp/wtq uncorrected & comparison of Jeff M chip to KAZ chip:

      whp/wtq corrected:

it would likely dyno ~260whp on a Dyno-Jet.

well you could take a chance at going to Lima to look at that SSEi on ebay, confirm whether or not it's rusty, take some pics and if it looks good bid $800, then i'll trade you straight across it it's not rusty $800 for my car would be a pretty good deal i think only downside (major downside) is that the auction ends tomarrow. i seriously doubt anyone will bid on it and then it might get relisted at a lower price.

looks like it's time to part the car out. no parts are for sale though, they will all be transplanted into a '92 Grand Prix STE with about 100,000 less miles and completely loaded with HUD, factory CD, graphite leather and power moonroof. i'm not sure what i'll do with the LQ1/4T60-E it has. should be a fun/easy summer project to keep me busy.

                  please lock or delete.
