Yeah? Did you not know the lifters were the same or are you excited about used lifters?

Sappy, will they fit a LHO (RWD 3.1, 1990)? Someone on another site is trying to retro-fit a roller cam on an F-body (haven't heard lately).

I don't know for sure so I won't even guess. I don't have a flat tappet setup here to check. I know curtis went roller but that was solid so they aren't the same lifter.

Ben, you think 200,000 mile 3100 could benefit from these lower mileage lifters? My car runs real good, but always looking for cheap refreshers.

If your car runs good, your lifters are probably fine. However, 200k is quite a few miles. Price is right but you gotta tear the engine down to swap them. I don't know that I would do that right now.

Do the heads have to come off to get the lifters out? I just thought about that. I still gotta swap my intake manifolds, but I'm not touching the heads..

no, for lifters just the uim, lim, and valve covers and rocker arms/push rods. then the lifter plate and they will pull right out

i know that back in the day i did place a 3100 roller lifter into a flat tappet 2.8 block. so the bore size for the lifter is the same but it may end there.

They will fit in a non-roller block, but they you need to figure out how to keep them in place, since the non-roller blocks don't have the provisions for the anti-rotation bars.

Not only that, but there is a difference in the oil passages that if used on a non-roller cam motor, they would be starved for oil. A guy on TGO is looking for a way to use them in a f-body and I believe he has solved the rotation problem, but not the oiling.

cant you chamfer the bore with a bore chamfer kit, i thought i saw one from comp cams, that is what would give some needed lube
