  • Wanted 1996 van throttle body

Hey all. I have plans to do a big port swap on my 1996 Century. My stock throttle body will not work with the newer UIM, and I don't have the means to come up with an adapter, so I need a throttle body and cables from a 1996 van. The '96s were the only year with the 3400 in the old body style, and the first gen U vans were largely based on the A-body cars, so that's the best match for mine. I really would like to get the TB with throttle and cruise cables still attached, but it's not a deal breaker.

You can run the 2000+ TB's if you swap the shafts. Then you can use your stock linkage. Be sure to use 2000 and up intakes as they are the best and you can't mix and match 99 uppers with 2000 and up TB's(the idle port is not the same). Keep on mind that you will have to grind the lower intake if you are going to keep your stock rocker arms. You will have to do some test fitting and keep grinding until the rockers have enough clearance.
The adapter that you need is for the EGR.

I did a shaft swap guide on Beretta.net, so check that out. It's in the Performance Mods area under Throttle Linkage Swap for TCE TB 65mm.

Ok, just so you are sure the 99 lowers are just as good as the 2000 and up, it's the 99 upper that has a wall inside just after the TB and that hurts flow a lot. Avoid 3400 uppers that do not have "3400" on them. Also large port 3100 intakes are the same as 3400's.

Thanks for the tips. I want to minimize the complexity of this swap though, so I will be using the rockers that come with the heads (junkyard). That's also why I want to use a van throttle body.
