  • Wanted P66 V6 PCM (94-95 3100 and F-body 3.4)

casually looking for another one in the event that I bork mine with experimental code patches, I also need one to tear apart for study/comparison, so the 4 main T25 torx screws MUST be removable, the knock filter cover isn't critical. mine are all very seized in the housing, otherwise I would take advantage of this downtime and crack this one open.

ideally, I'd like to get ahold of a 94-95 3.4/auto(16184737) unit since they do appear to have some extra hardware in them compared to the 3100 and 3.4/manual(16194737) PCM, but it wouldn't bother me that much to have just an exact spare of the one I have now.

so, should somebody happen to be at a yard that is having an "all you can haul" event or something like that, the <5 minutes to pull one from an underhood application(W and F-bodies) would be worth a few dollars per minute of work to me. an ~8" flatblade screwdriver with a ~1/4" or somewhat wider tip makes it a cake job to remove the otherwise stubborn connectors from the PCM and the PCM from its tray.

$20/shipped and only about an hour away... missing the knock filter cover, but for what I need to do with it, that isn't going to be a problem. looks far better than the one I have as well.

................ and they sent a 16172693, which is for the 93-specific 3.4RWD and 3.1(LH0)SFI applications.... they didn't bother reading the part number off of the label, they just put the 94-95 3.4/automatic PCM number on the ebay listing.

Is the 93 specific one cracked yet or is it still an orphan?

I will ship you my 4737 if you want, although I can't find anything installed on it that isn't also fitted on my manual trans unit. I can always pick up a few more at the parts yard

i may open this one up for some fast documentation before sending it back on monday, but the flashing programs should work with it just the same, I just never bothered making an XDF for it... this one is used on all 93 3.4 f-bodies, and only on some 93 3.1 w-bodies that have an oddball 3.1MPFI engine converted over to SFI...

there has to be some kind of difference between the various part numbers, however small they can be. I figured the 3100/manual 3.4 units wouldn't have the fairly large current sensing resistor and associated hardware for the PCS in the 4L60E at a minimum.

Hmmmm...I may look into that one. Does it use the SFI cam sensor requirement? If not, that lets us use off-the-shelf cams instead of requiring a regrind...at least for the flat-tappet engines.

When I get back home I will send some detailed photos of the guts of both manual and auto PCMs, I only *need* manual control.

it has a weird combo of things going on... it has a diagnostic enable circuit(ALDL pin B), a 3-wire O2 sensor(not the 1 or 4 used otherwise), has an AIR setup, uses the older non-PWM style of 4T60E transmission(complete with older-style P/N switch), cam and 24X signals, no VATS circuit... couple of other small things too.

on the f-body side of things, no real differences other than the trans-specific changes.

Sounds not terribly useful, at least for a drop-in solution. I am planning a trip to the parts yard before the end of the month, so I will pick up an extra auto computer in case some hardware mods kill mine.
