Hello,
I am a new member to your site but have been reading it for quit a while now. You guys always give good information on the FWD V6 stuff, especially the Lumina Z34. I pointed my oldest son to this site for information on his Pontiac GP when he had one.
I enjoyed reading this site for diagnosing, repairing or just information on my Z34 but now it is time to sell my car. Here is a little history on it:
Purchased it in a little town near Rogers, Arkansas about May 2010 with 110K on it. (can't remember the name of the place) Any way I noticed an oil leak after test driving it and the guy told me it was minor and maybe used/leaked a half quart between changes. Car was and is very clean and rust free. Got it home to Baldwin, Ks and had a huge oil slick under it the next morning. Hit a turkey and caved in the windshield on the way into town to have the oil leak looked at. Got the new windshield in it a couple days later.
Finally got the oil leak checked out June of 2010 at a friends shop and spent $1300 to fix the distributor shaft seal that I found out does eventually leak. (bummer)
Still had a leak so in July 2010, spent 2 days and $40 bucks to find out the pan gasket was leaking. $345 later I thought the oil leaks were done. Still had a tiny leak though and I just lived with it. September of 2011 I replaced the oil filter adapter gasket for $96. I have all receipts to show for work done.
December of 2011 I barely clipped a doe with the passenger front corner and the insurance company totaled it. Only new part I purchased was the headlamp. Hood is wrinkled but still has all the OEM metal on it. Most people don't know it was damaged until they really start looking. Fender is fine, bumper cover is fine but insurance wanted to R&R them and the labor was too expensive so that is why they totaled it.
About April or May of 2012 the transmission went out on my oldest son while on the highway home and it has sat ever since. Was going to let our next son use it as a first car but he now needs a truck. Started to remove the engine to part it out but just don't have the heart. Figured someone on here may be interested in a nice salvage title project Z34. Thinking maybe $1200 bucks. I don't know but open to offers. Clean cloth interior, Carpet is stained and ugly, Dash is perfect, Factory Bose Stereo sounds great, Tires are fair, Paint is really good, AC would not keep a charge.
Thanks for reading my book, just wanted to give enough information. Going to take pictures and try to post them.
Finally figured out how to post some pics. Thanks for looking!
