  • WTB: 3.1L Gen-I Pistons

I have a 2.8L block that I'd like to stroke to 3.1L, I already have the crankshaft. Anyone have some 3.1L iron-head pistons they'd like to get rid of? This block doesn't have a crank sensor so I can't build a Gen-III hybrid out of it. Trying to make use of the parts I have on-hand.

    Thanks

Do you mean 3.1 gen2 pistons? The only difference between 2.8/3.1 is the stroke of crank, pretty sure you can reuse the 2.8 pistons/rods unless you're using the genIII heads.
The genIII pistons are different as well as CC in heads,so there is some hokey pokey between them if you are using the newer genIII heads pretty sure for compression.

Either the pistons or the rods are different, maybe both. Otherwise the piston would overrun the cylinder and contact the head. I'm just trying to build an ordinary Gen-I engine.

rods between 2.8 and 3.1 are the same IIRC.
pin height being different between 2.8 and 3.1 would make sense.

I think a set of pistons is $120 or so, maybe I should just get them new.

I think these are the right ones.

those certainly seem to be 3.1 gen1 applications.
