  • NEED Oil Filter Adapter 2.8-3.1 Without Oil Cooler

    Hey guys,

In a bit of a pickle. I recently picked up a '91 Trooper with the 2.8 V6 and oil cooler, which blew a line, the other on it's way out. The replacement hoses and labor are pushing the value of the vehicle.

Best solution is to run the oil filter adapter without the oil cooler. The 2.8 and 3.1 engines in Isuzu's without the cooler will fit. Chevy adapter might put the filter at an odd angle, but I'm willing to try.

If anyone has one or knows a place, it'd be a life saver.

Can you not just thread the filter adapter fitting directly into the block?

      Unfortunately not.

Clearance issue? If so, the G6 oil filter is quite a bit shorter and may fit. That's what we run on my friend's S10.

Hmm, well that could be worth a shot. I've heard (haven't verified) that the chevy adapters which bolt on, have Isuzu clearance issues with the filter due a different angle.

Yeah, that's a good idea. One line is still "good", but it's about the same age and shape as the line that failed, so it'd be more of a band-aid than a solution.
