    • What the hell happened? I know you are not putting anyone down and so does everyone else. You did this to warn others.
Orangecky2k it has been said that the older sets with the TCE stamped on it are ok. So yes you should fear your new set until more info comes out.

Hence my misinterpreted statement, but I'm going to just step back from this rather than piss anyone off any further.

        • I don't see how your putting anyone down. I'm glad you said something before I installed and ran it... but like you I purchased 2 and really hope I didn't waste all that cash. I guess my build will have to wait until this is all worked out.

            • Thanks for the information. I will continue to put off installing it until further information is out. Marc, just let us know what actions you want us to take with these once everything is figured out.

              Thank you.

              • Checked the one my tech bought for his car and it's fine. The chain can wrap completely around the gear and doesn't skip like Jon's did in those videos. In a production run, not sure why there would be a difference from one to the next.

                • Can you measure the bottom diameter of the cam sprocket?

Like this, obviously using the narrower portion of the calipers to get deeper into the cut.

Mine measured up at 4.525" and major overall DIA of the sprocket was 4.941"

I also have no clue as to how something that is a production run could vary but all it takes is one miss calculation on the gear cutting machine and the error will compound fast which will make the chain jump. This is why I hope Marc can prove he did everything right but the gear cutter messed up somewhere... And I would assume if that is true then the cost to replace these wouldn't come out of his pocket because it's not his fault.

I get those same measurements. Perhaps you got a blemished part that made is past part checking?

Before anything rash happens, everyone should just make sure the chain wraps completely around the gears and not skip like yours does. And yes, it only takes a small amount on a gear setup to eventually throw it off a lot.

Maybe it's .0000001" out of square, but by the time you get to the moon, it will be miles.

Gathering from all the info, Marc is not at fault, he simply provided the blanks and out sourced the gear hobbing and treating - except for the fact that the parts weren't double checked, but this is a second run, so the hobber should have already had all the tooling setup and these should have just been a repeat job.

That's what I've been thinking all along, and it was both of mine that were bad plus Geoff Morrow did the same check on his and they did the same thing. Really a bit odd.

I really need to check mine this afternoon and see if I am getting similiar results.

                          • Well Marc got my packages on Monday so hopefully soon he can update us with what happened to these and if he feels that all the sprockets need to be replaced or not. I know everyone that has a set should send it back to him for checking/repair if you did not get his email that he sent.

Really weird that the original batch has different numbers yet the other one Forced has fits the chain...

I just finished checking mine and I don't seem to be having the same issues that were shown in the videos. It looked just fine. I never got an email from him, but maybe I should send it in anyways.
