  • For Sale: Cammed and ported 3500 + J swap stuff

Hey all, been a good while since i've been around. the 3500 from my sunbird is up for sale, alsong with everything else. in october, a fire consumed all the plastic and electrical parts in the engine bay. so it's getting parted to fund my new v8 project.

    parts up for grabs

    LX9 3500 - .506/.506 220/224 @ .050 cam, heads/intakes by superdave
engine has about 50k on it total right now. fire scorched the paint off the corner of the upper intake, and melted the Northstar TB(but not the adapter plate) and all the ignition and etc parts. Core engine is fine, i'd throw a set of GM intake gaskets on it with a new TB and call it good, if i was gonna use it myself. also includes the long tube headers, if it's gonna be a 5 speed car. these were on superdaves 3500 in his Z.

if you needed the extra parts, that'd include the crank trigger setup and the front swap bracket for a J-body or pre-92 L-body.

also have the HM282 trans(approx 115K) and a spec stage 2+ clutch(10K miles or so). trans *should* be good with new axle seals, and a shift shaft seal. no cables, they fried, but the shortened shifter assembly with rodney dickman kit in it would go with the trans. comes with the beretta tube-style jackshaft you need with a 5 speed behind the 3500.

i'll sell all of this crap for 1200 bucks.

yeah i'd let it all go for that. like i said, needs gaskets for the top end, and the trans seals, but it's all the expensive stuff for a swap.

well i hadn't really planned on it but my car kind of caught on fire so i had to get another car asap turned out it's not a v6 gm so i need to unload this, i don't have a place for it or much time to put into it.

it's got the j-body and pre-92 L-body style mount, with the single mount up top. i also have a 93 w41 282 sitting in a corner, with the lower 4th, 5th, AND the 3.94 FDR.

thank you for those words. although it makes me miss it even more. if it doesn't sell, i'm going to try and find a nice corner to tuck it in until i can afford to make something of it again. we considered a corsica, which would be cool, but a nice clean sunbird would make me so happy. just no cash for it right now.

and, it layed down 244 at the wheels, with 2 3500 front manifolds and a 65mm TB, before i installed the headers and 75mm TB. it's got potential for a low 13's in a car that matches the sunbird(3k lbs)

i'd like to see another sunbird with cavalier side effects, and a beretta GTU spoiler, and z24 hood, with dish'd 5 spoke rims. just plain awesomeness of gm transplanted parts. did the car set onfire? shed some light on what happened...maybe so this doesnt happen to one of us...

Damon, is this thing down in Muscatine or somewhere else? I'm going to be pretty bored this week.. i'd like to see the carnage. lol

I still think we should hack it up and RWD convert it.. or just toss the engine in this: http://qcaautoforums.proboards.com/i...y&thread=11804

yeah it's in muscatine at my mom's place, in the country. doing anything tomorrow? i've got plenty of free time before about 1:30, going to a friend's play at the college @ 2 and dinner with my dad after that though.

and.... the engine bay caught fire, not sure how. i'll make up a thread in the members rides forum with the details i know.

what do you have to do to even ship a motor? i could totally get it crated up i think, i just dunno the first thing about shipping engines. if you can figure out a shipper, i'd be more than willing to help you out.
