Common upgrade from the 91-93 style to rid yourself of the difficult to remove lock rings. The 94 redesign is a direct bolt on for the 91-93 motors. It is a simpler design that uses a split locking cone rather than the press in locking rings. The advantage is that once you loosen the bolt you can gently tap the cam gear and it will freewheel on the cam. Makes for much easier timing belt replacement as well as timing adjustments.
