  • WTB: Getrag 284

Looking for working Getrag 284's. Also the clutch slave cylinder and axles.

If you have one for sale, or see one in a yard and want to make a little money taking it out and shipping it to me, let me know.

I have a setup for sale.

Here's the FS thread I have over on W-body....

Alright, lets try this thread again without a bunch of debate on what trans I actually have. Ill start off, I know it's a 284 just like I previously posted for sale. It says 284 right on the trans tag and I pulled it myself from a 92 GTP.

IIRC mileage on trans is 127K. Engine in car was junk. Trans shifts easily through all the gears.

        What's included?

        -Trans (127K IIRC)
-Tail shaft to engine block bracket. Slightly cracked, easily repaired. I haven't seen many uncracked.
-Repaired/modded trans mount. Poly filled. Looks nice
-Shift cables, has grommets in place. Move freely, comes with new "Nunzi Mod" bushings, washers, clips
-Shifter and mount clips, round style GP. No shift knob
-Firewall plate, modded auto unit. clutch MC fits nicely and securely
-Column/Pedal bracket assembly. Proper 5-speed unit
        -Master Cylinder
        -Slave Cylinder
-Stock line, but comes with Pinlock to -3AN fittings so you can use a prefabbed braided stainless hose instead of the stock line and crappy accumulator setup. Summit sells the prefabbed hoses for aboot $20. Not sure of length needed
-NEW (Not Reman) flywheel. Has been bolted to my LX9
-NEW (Not Reman) Axles, both sides with stub shaft
        -Trans to block bolts
-VSS and reverse switches in trans with pigtails.
        -Has a dipstick (thanks Nunzi!)

You will need a clutch set and flywheel bolts. Nunzi says Auto bolts wont work as they are a bit too short. I bolted the flywheel to my LX9 with the stock LX9 bolts and they seem to engage plenty of threads. AFAIK, LX9 bolts are not the same as LQ1/3x00 thread pitch anyway so I won't be including mine.

Will need the trans fluid, and I recommend new axle output shaft seals. They are less than $20 for both.

And that's aboot all. Add clutch, flywheel bolts, 2 seals, fluid, and enjoy shifting. I'm looking to get rid of it cause well, it's just not gonna fit what I really want. Time to realize a 284 isn't realistic for my goals.

        Asking $900 OBO or TRADE

Got a decent running not rotted out spare W-body or other car? I'll trade straight up for this setup.

Any questions, lemme know. I can get pics up upon request. Nothing special, tis gonna look exactly as I described

FWIW, If anyone here is able to use a 282 instead, I have a 282 with some swap parts for $300. Being about 3 hours away from KC, we could probably work something out on pickup of parts.

            I have:
            282 transmission
clutch, flywheel, etc (engine and trans have not been separated)
            shifter and mount brackets
            cv shafts
            shift cables
            fluid reservoir
            clutch safety switch and pigtail
            transmission mount

I did not get the slave cylinder and cable and the pedals before the car was hauled off.
