I my stock cavalier axles because I couldn't find a v6 intermediate shaft. I have a quad4 internediate shaft that will fit in the trans (for sure) but wouldn't mount to block (I was told, never checked) I don't have torque steer issues but it is said to be the downside to uneven axles.
I'm 100% sure they won't. I found that out the hard way.

I am doing it on an alero, and using the 282 mounted to a stock motor utilizing the stock passenger mount and custom mounts elsewhere, the 5 speed grand am/ alero axles don't work, one was too short, one was too long. I am utilizing a fiero outer axle, mated to a 282 cavalier inner on one side, and an alero outer with a 282 cavalier inner on the other side.

well i finally found a jackshaft so that will make this alittle simpler. i mated the trans to my motor and lowered it down to see if i needed anything removed. the driver side tranny mount needs to be cut off, once thats out, just need to make the new mounts.

Already have the clutch pedal in? and the hole drilled for the master cylinder? I found it easier to take the dash out to get the clutch pedal in, then you also have access to all of the wiring in case you are inclined to add a neutral safety switch, backup lamp, etc.......

                  Sorry to post misinformation
I only found out about splines not length on the axles.
