  • Wanted Beretta Chip or ECM

Anyone here have a working chip for a 89-90 Beretta 2.8 v6 with Auto trans, Digi-dash, and no MAF, laying around that they don't want? I've been looking for one, I've wanted to get the one on WOT-Tech but can't afford at the moment. Donations appreciated.
Tell me if you've got something. I really need one to get rid of this damn MAF. Another thing is that it's damn near impossible to find the air filter for an 87.

OOORRR, if someone would be kind enough to program a new chip for me, that'd be cool too.

punch in your VIN there, and select the correct set of options, see what comes up as available BCCs, i may have one that would work for you. i would need your current MEMCAL shipped to me to remove the UV erased PROM, solder in 27SF512, program it with the updated calibration, send it back and you should be able to plug it in and go.

it would cost you a little more than what i paid for the 27SF512 (about $5) plus shipping.

you sir, are a saint. I'll looks up the info later tonight and let you know. Actually, before that, Is there any way I can test whether my computer is already loaded with Speed Density software? There's a sticker on it that says so, but sometime during it's lifetime, I think my Dad, who first had the car, may have changed the ECM and I don't know if it had the correct program on it. I want to see if I can test it before I proceed. Thanks!

unplug the MAF when it's running, if it dies, it's not disabled.

The 4 letter code on the chip is the best way to look it up.

Robert, with this whole process, will the computer be able to be tuned in the future in the event of a new motor? Also, will it improve the performance like the WOT-TECH chip or will it just disable the MAF? Thanks. I wasn't able to get to the car today. I'll get you the info you want ASAP.

yes, it WILL be able to be tuned in the future, easier and cheaper compared to using something like a G1 adapter from Moates, since all that would need to be done is to plug a header into the bottom of the MEMCAL and then plug that into a PROM burner.

if you'd like, i can change simple things in the tune, like speed/rev limiters, disable emissions, fan on/off temps, enable lean cruise, etc, but beyond simple stuff like that, i really don't feel like dealing with trying to push out a full custom tune on a vehicle i don't have local access to. if you want something like that, talk to Ben, i'm sure he'll be happy to set you up.

oh no no, nothing complicated. my car is bone stock so it won't need it, and if the chip will already be ready for future tuning, then I'll try to take care of that myself once I get a good grasp of tuning and have the equipment. This will actually be a good starting point for me to practice and do things myself. I'd like to keep the settings stock, although, "enable lean cruise" got my attention. What's that?

lean cruise changes the target air/fuel ratio when at low loads and above a set speed. instead of being 14.7:1, i found 16.2:1 to be as lean as you can go before getting near lean misfires. it's usually good for some extra MPG when above it's target speed, assuming you don't put your foot into it far enough to cancel it(was ~25% TPS IIRC).

since you're planning on making your own tunes, the only things you'll need after the MEMCAL is modified is a burner (BURN2 from moates is excellent), and a HDR1 from Moates. that's burning only equipment anyways.

Lean cruise is definitely worth it, especially with today's gas prices. One time in the 92 on the highway I managed about 32mpg- this from a car if I'm driving around in town "having fun" or at the strip can get down to 12mpg...

Robert, sorry it took me a while to get this. The BCC code on it is ASMK/0695.

ASMK is a 6D BIN, so your MAF is definitely non-functional.

would it still be possible to do a slight tune change to it, like you were suggesting before? I'm REALLY liking the idea of "Enable Lean Cruise mode". We're at $4.30 /gal over here in Soviet Kalifornia so anything helps, and like I said, I may want to do my own tune later. Thanks.

the option is available in 6D and all of the later MPFI masks as well.

if/when you do get onto tuning your own stuff, i would recommend moving onto the A1 mask assuming there is nothing preventing it, it's much more documented.

Thanks for the info and help man. Would I be able to use my digi-dash using this A1 mask if I swapped to 3500?
