Time to clean out the inventory. I have a set of rebuilt Gen 2 heads I bought a while back before I found this site and never used them. I attempted my first porting job on the intakes (2.8 ) from an 89 Cutlass Supreme and the rebuilt heads. I basically opened them up to the gaskets and blended back as far as I could. I did the whole thing with a pair of underpowered dremel knock-off tools. Took many times longer than using the proper tools (live and learn) but at the time I was afraid of going too far or otherwise making mistakes. So I painstakingly measured and lined everything up. I'm not sure how much I can fetch for this setup (both heads,LIM, and UIM), but I have $150 invested in the heads before the mild port job.
I also have a lot of other parts for the Gen 2 many of which I can't think of but off the top of my head there is the timing cover, valve covers (I'll throw those in with the heads for the cost of shipping), water pump, alternator (squeaks when spun by hand but I'm sure the bridge rectifier is still good), some brackets and such. I will clean up over the weekend and get pics posted.
I also have a 3400 block with a number of good parts like the timing cover, oil pan, bare heads, alternator from a minivan with same squeaky bearing issue, and other parts I need to dig up. Again I am not certain how much a lot of this stuff is worth but I will try and look up some prices on car-part and give prices competitive with the cheapest offers in my area.
Although not 60* related, I did a series 2 3800 and an Ecotec replacement last year and have a bunch of leftovers from them including intakes, TB's and a bunch of sensors. With the Ecotec I have the entire motor still laying around to pick from. The 55mm Ecotec TB looks like it could be a good upgrade for a Gen 2 with a simple TB adapter, which leads in to my last offer. . . .
Last year I decided to start melting down aluminum. I haven't spent a ton of time doing it but I have made a number of 2 pound ingots out of computer heatsinks and beer cans. My ultimate goal is to be able to cast custom lower intakes which could be sent off for someone to machine into exact tolerances and maybe end up with carb, TBI, or supercharger intakes for the 3X00. I'm sure I am a couple years off from getting that good at casting. However I do currently have the ability to make custom TB adapters. I recently picked up a couple TB gaskets to help me get a rough shape. Some of the TB's I have the gasket (or shape) for are the 3400, 3500, 3.6 LY7, Gen 2, LX5, Vortec 4.3 from a 2002, and Ecotec from a 2002. The first couple will probably take some time getting the molds right and refining the process of machining them to close tolerances but I figured I would throw that out there and soon throw up some pics of what I have going on.
Really I am just trying to clean house and would like to reinvest some of the money from parts into making new stuff for us 60* guys. I really like the idea of making some adapters to make some swaps easier, especially with the LY7 should anyone be bold enough to take that path. PM me with any interests and I will try to get pics up shortly.
