  • LX9 Oil flter base as pictured

Looking for the oil filter base like this. I don't know what vehicles it was found on. I didn't get one with my Uplander engine, filter screws into the block.

    '98 Volvo V90 - Ford 5.0 swap in progress
'96 LR Range Rover 4.6 HSE - suspiciously reliable
'92 Volvo 740 Wagon - former parts car, now daily-driver beater
'71 Opel Kadett Wagon - 1.9L CIH w/ Weber DGV 32/36, in bits

          Remote mount where?

Without it the filter seals up against the block and sits angled. With it, it sits in the upright position and futher down. Might not clear the subframe in some cars.

The oil filter adapter from a newer engine uses three bolts to attach it to the block and will not work on the older engines since they don't have the mounting holes. However, you can use a filter adapter from an earlier Beretta, Cavalier, etc as they mount using a single hollow bolt through the center. The threaded nipple that mounts the oil filter has a 10mm internal hex. Just use an allen wrench to remove the nipple and the old style adapter goes in it's place.

CNC I think it might be a little bit more complicated than that. I don't have my old block anymore to confirm but at a minimum I believe the thread size for the filter nipple in the block is different on the 3900 compared to the previous. At least on the adaptor it is as I had trouble getting the standard size oil filter bypass fitted in place of the oil filter and suspect they used the same size in the block.

My uplander engine came with a sandwhich style oil cooler fitted between the filter and the mount and I don't believe any of the stock Uplander engines came with a direct block to oil filter connection unless they changed over the years.

                  Joseph,

My 2006 uplander LX9 did not come with an oil filter adapter as seen the the enclosed picture.

Very strange. I've had quite a few '04~06 LX9s here which all had the same threads as the older engines and I am using a Beretta adapter on my '06 LZ9. What year is your 3900?
