  • WTB 60 Gal Compressor tank only

So, one day while having a fit, my little craftsman compressor gets knocked over and the emergency pressure valve gets broken. No big deal right? I go to un screw it and the 1/2" nipple from the regulator to the tank breaks clean at the tank. Great. Murphy is in my garage again.

I tried heat, I tried heat and wax, I tried Blaster, etc...... I tried it all, short of drilling it out. I then looked at new compressors, never liked the little 30 gallon anyway, too small....."THEY WANT HOW MUCH FOR A 60 GALLON!????"
    Forget it.
I want a tank. Just a tank, 60 gallon vertical would work perfect. I'll move my compressor motor to that and good to go. Anyone got one? Sears is willing to sell me one for the price of a new compressor.

PS, cherry on top, walked out to a flat tire on my only car this evening. Figures. If someone see's Murphy, SHOOT HIM!
sigpicHow to make High performance Emissions:
A "true" High flow converter, straight pipe.
Low/No flow EGR valve, block off plate.
Carbon canister and purge valve mod, place in large 30 Gallon can, cover, and place curbside, the city will do the rest.
PCV valve and vent tube, reroute to exhaust to dump where it belongs, on the ground. Or add breathers and let it all free.

If your set on replacing just the tank you may want to check Craigslist for someone trying to get rid of an old 60 gallon compressor or perhaps harbor freight sells just tanks? You can always try an easy out on your tank, what do you have to lose at this point.

Is your craftsman a direct drive oil-less unit?

If so do yourselef a favor and replace the whole thing, don't bother reusing the compressor on a new tank. I had a 33gallon oil-less craftsman, it still works great but the noise is unbearable if it has to be in the same room as you.

I picked up an oil lubircated twin cylinder, belt driven 30 gallon from Lowes for around $400. I am so much happier. It is Kobalt brand and has excellent reviews. It pumps up faster and most importantly it doesn't rattle my brain with noise. They have a 60 gallon version of the same compressor for less than $100 more but it only runs on 240v and does not have wheels. If you can get your hands on a Lowes 10% coupon that helps too.
