  • looking for used clutch and pressure plate

My brother has his 3400 and 5speed dropped out of his cavalier right now to replace the trans and put a new clutch in. We have a clutch builder that is going to build us a couple of clutches for our cars- as the autozone clutches didn't like the setup and the price of decent aftermarket is a bit expensive. We personally have had good luck with other clutches behind our bbc and sbc's. The autozone clutches are not good cores to rebuild, so we've been trying to find our originals but haven't had any luck.. Anyone have any laying around that they could part with- hopefully in the central michigan area?

well, to give you an idea- I paid like 150 to have my 3200 lb through bbc 3 finger borg-beck unit rebuilt. It looked great and held great- no problems. And my brother and I are looking to get a package deal on clutches built for our 60*s

He dismantles and reassembles with new springs, friction material, and resurfaces the pressure plate. I'll repost with details once we get ours arranged.

How is the quality of Luk? This summer, we plan on throwing some boost at these cars and perhaps a cam. I'd hate to put something in to have to pull it out and replace it again- already been there.. The springs were falling out of the autozone clutch

The clutch i have is a closed in style spring and the engine was built for boost so if he would make a copy off of mine i think it should hold

At my shop we use stage one clutches on every stock vehicle and we have never had a problem, on big rigs ranging from 15000-30000lbs trucks we still use there clutches, they have stage 1,2 And 3 clutches. Different frictions and pressure plates. They might have higher stages too, they also sell kits that come with everything from the master the flywheel. Just asked my boss, we've been using them for over 15 years, and they start as a heavy duty stock replacement.
Edit: pro gold assembly is there race type quality
