  • WTB- weatherproof ECM & harness

So my buddy is doing a semi-built 3500 swap in his 3rd gen J, and what we're looking to do is back-convert to OBD-1. Problem is we want to use the weatherproof ECM and harness so we have to do minimal wire extending, anything, that could possibly mess with the computer. i was thinking 92-93 3.1 grand prix, they use the weatherproof ECM right?

We need any harness that was used on a GenII 3.1L with the weatherproof ECM, basically. if you have one, let me know!

also, if you by strage coincidence have or know anyone who has the shifter and cables from a 00-04 manual trans J-body, let me know also, he needs that as part of his isuzu to getrag trans swap as well.

ANY 88-93 60V6 W-body will have the ECM you need... the 88-92 2.8/3.1 will be a 1227727, the 91-93 3.4 and 93-94 3.1 will be a 16149396. the only exceptions to this are the flex-fuel luminas IIRC... i don't remember what they used.

weatherproof and use the same connectors and are capable of running 6D/88/8D/8F/A1 and the 9396 can run all of those + DF. the 7727 MIGHT be able to run DF if used in a manual car, but i can't guarantee it.

they should both be capable of running 59 as well.

why not retain obdII? im running a 99 3400 ecm for my 99z 3500 swap. i know quicklilcav (think thats his name) on j-body is running a camaro obdII
harness but i think he had to completly redo it.

and retaining obdII on a 2000+ if he uses or reflashes to a malibu ecm his stock gauges will work.

wait i see now hes going from a isuzu to getrag so its 1999-. sorry to be a pain but he could use a 92+ berreta 282 and it will bolt to the stock isuzu mounts and be stronger than the shitzusu. and retain a isuzu clutch. u have a lot more knowledge than me ive seen on ur posts but as far as third gen 3500 if u have any questions pm me.

i might suggest that, but i haven't simply because we'd still have to figure out how to mount the cables to the tranny, and, i have a 282 in my car(92 'bird) and it's very notchy.... i'm gonna see what the 2000+ getrag feels like in his car, and if the torque steer from unequal length CV's isn't rediculous, i might swap to it myself.... if it shifts better than my 282, that is.
