  • Wanted Trailer Hitch

As strange as this may sound I need a Trailer Hitch to fit a 99 Lumina. All the new ones I've looked at cost more than I want to spend and seem to be heavier duty than I need. The trailer is only rated for 800lbs and I probably will never use it for loads more than 400-500lbs. Like an engine or trans... Just wondering if anyone bought a car with a hitch and they removed it??? I saw a post that had a car with one and the guy was going to get rid of it,,, FAST....
    Hopefully someone can help,,,,
    Tom....

not a GM part, the local RV place hooked it up, i really doubt they are using GM factory parts.

trailer hitches is what i do. go to uhaul, they have the same brand hitches as any shop you will find, but sell them for a MUCH cheaper price. they use Valley brand hitches and Hidden Hitch brand. but sell them for about $50 less than anyone else. just DO NOT let them install it. they suck ass and dont do anything right.

make sure the hitch comes with a ball mount, pin + clip, instructions (with hardware list) and of course all the hardware. for the Wbody cars i wouldnt recommend getting an aftermarket or multi fit hitch. but you do what you want! lol

i have a Z34 specific hitch on my car and had to drill 12 1/2" holes in the trunk and now have 10"X6" plates on either side to support it. (and its a class 2 hitch) i would also not recommend class 1 hitches. you cant even use a bike rack on them without them shaking lose.

oh yeah, DO NOT go to GM for this part. lol the dealerships send us the cars to put our aftermarket hitches on because they cost less and the salsemen sell them as factory hitches, billing accordingly. i can also get you T connecting wiring harnesses and shit if you like (means you dont have to splice soldier or otherwise connect into your existing wiring to get the trailer lighting. just plug n tow.

this is the best pic i could find, showing off the abortion of an exhaust system i had installed, then re done. and now it needs to be straightened because they welded the passenger side tip on wrong!! fuckin douche bags.

i actually pulled a ~94 cutty supreme sedan from a dead stop going up a ~25-30* 400ft hill using the MC with that hitch... gotta love combining 3.33 gears with the 4t60-e 1st... makes for some awesome towing ability, even with the 3100.

Forgot about this!! Thanks for the replies...
Robert,,, the pics are good,,, think you could get one where the hitch goes over the exhaust???
Sofa,, U-Haul,,, GOOD Idea!! Someone suggested them but, I didn't know they installed them. There happens to be a U-Haul dealer next town over, bout half an hour away. Which for around here is CLOSE!! Takes me close to an hour (round trip) to get my mail!! One day I'll swing by there and check. I wouldn't let them install it,,, NOBODY touches my cars!! Learned the HARD way!! When I was recovering from my amputation didn't have much choice... What a MESS!!
                    ThanxXx for the replies,,
                    Tom...
I was just hoping somebody had bought a W-Body that had a hitch and they had removed it.. Like I said I wouldn't have anything heavier than an engine on there.. And the speed would be 50mph,, tops.. About once a month I need to go on the highway and get up to 65-70 for about 10 minutes,, other than that the car NEVER goes over 50.. The roads just won't let you!! We don't even have ONE traffic light in town. And we are the second largest town, in sq miles, in CT...

of course they do, plastic doesnt transfer heat very well.. so its a way to keep the exhaust heat from entering the car! great idea.

i just meant i'm one-upping the ricers by actually useing ANYTHING to keep the exhaust held up.... but that works too
