  • WTB: Clutch Fork for getrag 282

I put the TO bearing in wrong on my clutch job, and the clutch fork got bent and I need a new one. I can't find one at part stores, so I have been posting on various forums to try to find one. I am going to the yard tomorrow, but it's pretty doubtful I will find one there.

I work at a parts store, and when I had to change the fork on my 282 the dealer was the only place to go.

This was years ago now, so hopefully they still have them. Our trannies are getting old.

Thanx for the info, but I was hoping to get one on a forum, cuz the dealer will probably want like 150 bucks for it...lol

HAHA good luck on that one, I've been trying to find one for over a year now. I know someone out there has one but nobody is speaking up.

your best bet is to pick up another trans from the junk yard and take the fork out of it...

I wonder if we could get Forced Firebird to make aftermarket ones.

Ya, I plan on junkyarding today, but there are only a couple around here. What other years/vehicles came with the 282. I know cavs and berettas had the 282 but what year did they switch to 284?

the 284 was only bolted to the 3.4 DOHC.

1992 is the last year for the external slave trans in the Cavalier/Sunbird/Beretta. After that they became internal slave and didn't have the fork.
