  • For Sale : 3k Yank Performance Converter 4t60e

I have a used 3k Yank Performance Converter for sale. It was too aggressive for my motor but may suite a lower HP build better. I think having as much torque as I do I put the stall in the upwards realm of 3400-3500 rpm, so that was a little too high. A lower powered motor will have a lower stall respectively.

I'm looking to get 200+ shipping. This is a heavy item so be aware of that.

Converter will fit 94-96 4t60e applications, and newer ones. Has torque lock for the highway, and I got 27mpg with this thing installed going down to NC. Only has 2k or so miles on it and was only run with Dextron 6 fluid.

Please PM me or e-mail me (jpchmura@charter.net) if interested along with replying to this.

well you pulled the converter above the stall speed really, but arent you NOT supposed to use the synthetic fluid for the LSD that Jeff makes...i thought he told me not to do that. what converter are you looking at now...
Bump for a good perf converter for someone that doesnt have problems with the Dig like higher TQ or higher geared cars do

I know Jeff said not to use synthetic... I was the one who had problems with that in my first trans but I figured I would give the Dextrox 6 a try and see what happend... So far it still spins both of my DR's so I don't think I have any issues. Last time I tried using B&M synthetic trick shift it was slipping so bad i couldn't even get 205's to spin together and that was when it was brand new.

weird, after 500 miles, mine was nice and stiff cold, but when heat soaked, it felt almost non-existent. now, after about 2000 miles, it's nice and stiff when heat soaked too. i'm planning on using Valvoline dex 6 synthetic after i replace my side cover and install a "shift kit"...soon. i don't remember jeff saying not to use synthetic. maybe not during the break in period.

Everytime I had problems with the diff he would say its because i'm using synthetic... I think its due to the high mileage i put on it.

Either way converter was sold a while ago, sorry.

probably cause he didn't want to warranty the diff. then you'd have to wait about a year before his machinist gets around to cutting the blanks.

he told me his business is dying and he'll be getting away from the LSDs since he doesn't make much money on them.

Never once requested a warranty I wanted to pay $200 for a rebuild and he was giving me a hard time. First time around I sent it back it was cooked, he took it apart, I sent new spiders, he modified the design and heightened up on spring pressure and took 8 months doing so, and when I finally bugged him enough he shipped it back free of charge... Took way to long for a rebuild.

This second time around it was doing JUST fine with the pressure it had, but I wanted to put it in a new diff for pinkys 96's trans vs the 94 one it was in, this is when I found my stamped steel plates one cracked... so I sent it back, to get put in a new diff I sent with it and I also paid for the new machined plates, new springs and modifying the output shaft so it would be like the 4t65e style, just under 300 I think... and now this unit was ok, but I pulled it and swapped it into a 3.29 diff from the 3.06 it was in and just now its been starting to act up... I don't think this version had the same amount of spring pressure as my second setup did with the stamped steel plates. SO I'm pulling it this winter, going through it, possibly replacing spiders and clutches if indeed they are cooked, and then when I re-assemble it I will try to add more preload to the unit by shimming the springs if I can.

First time around was a full synthetic trans, then Type F, and then the diff cooked itself, so I drained the whole thing fixed some other issues and went back to dextronIII that lasted up till last year when I pulled the diff out to go into pinky this year. So I think I have about 60k on the clutches and spiders that are in this unit...I cant imagine they are wear free. SO, I'm not sure if it IS the synthetic that makes it slip more or if its the first and third edition units that were not used in dextronIII just didn't have the same amount of preload... I think my second diff had tons of preload and this one and my first one are marginal.

And if he is getting away from LSD's I beg him for just the measurements and sources of springs so I can continue to rebuild my unit on my own since I have access to a fully equipped machine shop.

dont know how different the 4t45 is inside VS the 4t60 but from reading on the grand am forums the 4t45 does like synthetic fluid and slips bad with it.

i know this winter ill be looking into options for a tranny and since he's getting out of the LSD business ill have to figure something out on that side.

Jon i might be renting your services for help with the tranny when i get one since ive never been inside of one.

the cool thing is....i have jon's diff now!

i'm pretty certian the 45E's don't have synthetic fluid. i had service done since the car was getting a fuel pump, and Dex III was used to fill the tranny. i doubt two years ago they were mixing synthetic and non synthetics.

the 45e's dont have synthetic from the factory and from everyones experience on the grand am forums they dont like it either. once they put synthetic fluid in it slips like a mother

sooo you are saying not to upgrade to Dex VI? i've been thinking about doing that. besides, Dex III in about 2 years won't be made any longer. so it's move up or by a 6 speed auto!
