  • Wanted Shaft-style Stereo for classic car

Like the title says. I have a car that needs a shaft style deck, and I want to upgrade to something ideally with an aux-in and/or tape deck, and preamp outs. If you have something, let me know!

My 81 Isuzu I-Mark has an OEM Clarion deck, but it's only AM/FM (I'm using an FM transmitter for iPod). I started working on the sound system today, ran 8ga back to the trunk for an amp that I already had which I was going to run line-level off the AM/FM Clarion for the 4" speakers in the rear deck and a modest sub (single 8 or 10"). I was thinking I'd keep it an all-Clarion system since that's the OEM package. But, I can't find the line-level adapters for my amp, and I can't find clarion 4" speakers, etc. So, I scrapped that idea.

I'm not too picky about the brand. Best I've seen on eBay is an Alpine (which also happens to be my current brand of choice). If I could score one of those I'd be pleased.

But, there are "Dual" stereos which are cheap and probably rubbish, but have an aux-in for the iPod (or whatever) and pre-amps. They are the only shaft-style I saw on Crutchfield. Might be worth a try... If I use the aux-in and run everything off pre-amp, I might be ok with an otherwise rubbish deck.
