  • Mastercylinder WANTED!!!!

I need a mastercylinder (ABS) for a 1990 Pontiac GTP McLaren. Advance Auto sells Reman units for $1100!!!! Has anyone dealt with these things?? The non-ABS unit is like $140. I was toying with the idea of removing the ABS and just installing the non-ABS mastercylinder. Does anyone have experience with this? Will it work? Anyways if anyone has the ABS unit laying around and wants to get rid of it please email me at FlyNLo17@Yahoo.com

    Thanks,
    Dale

I Have one it needs the pump relay swapped over from your old one... But its in good shape other than that.. they are a PITA.... parts have to get changed when you put a non ABS unit in... Do a search and you will find write ups on changing it over..

if your talking about that ABS hydraulic pump brake system with the electric motor for brake pressure...yeah i've been there and done away with it. my 91 grand prix had one but it wouldnt hold pressure so i said the heck with it and put a regular barke system with a brake booster on it and its all good and hundreds of dollars cheaper verses buying another one. only thing is you have to almost take out all of the front dashboard out to get to a plate that mounts to the firewall and whatever you may need to move out of the way in the engine bay for good clearance. Also you'll have to disconnect the steering bar but thats no big. That plate is the key. Take one off of another car with the regular brake system and put it in yours. the bolt holes are the same, replace your dash, install your brake components, bleed'em and your done. you can afterwards do away with the wiring and ABS computer. It is time consuming but if you take your time, it will be worth the effort and trouble...i should know.
