4T60E dipstick...

  • 4T60E dipstick...

    Anyone have a dipstick tube for a 4T60E tranny? I need the dipstick it's self, and the tube it goes through... also has to have a good rubber "boot" at the end (whatever seals into the tranny).

    I had to bend mine some to get my headers in on my 3500 GP and I bent the tube in half. Then I tried to pull the dipstick out and flattened the dipstick. When I bent it, it also started a leak where it seals to the tranny...

    I am probably just going to have a shop put it in, since I can't see jack down there but I can feel that I really screwed it up and it's leaking from the boot. I figured they could order one, but it would be from the dealer and $$

    it's actually cheap at the dealer, the tube at least. contact www.gmotors.com also note that in '97, the tube and dipstick changed. It's bent more in order to clear the different downpipe. That one may work better for you. Order one for like a '97 Lumina.

      Does it go towards the drivers side strut or pass. side strut more? I need it to come far towards the drivers side, right between the brake booster and headers. Stock it wanted to come up right where cylinder #5 is, and I bent it towards the pass side more and screwed it up.

      Anyone have part #'s if I just order it from GM or gmpartsdirect?

        Shipping may kill the deal at gmparts direct. get a quote from the local stealership too.

          I think it comes more to the drivers side. Here's a pic of where my dipstick handle sits:



          It's been a while since I had to mess with it, but I know the '94-96 was more straight overall. I'll double check and get back to you.

            My 95 DOHC dipstick is further towards the driver side.

              Just go to the dealer I was able to get a new engine oil dipstick for my 93 GP the dealer is still able to get lots of parts for your car.

                Checked dealer, they ordered one, then I got a call the next day. They are on manufacture backorder, said it could take forever to get and I might as well cancel the order.

                Ended up finding one at a local place used off a slightly newer/older car. Took FOREVER! No one wanted to part with their dipsticks.
