Joseph has a 3900 crank for sale that can be modified to work with your stroke.
BTW: The cranks are steel, not forged, correct?

EDIT: NM, I re-read your ad. Could our rods be bored that .2" to make the crank work? That way it wouldn't need re-balancing.Last edited by ForcedFirebird; 08-12-2007, 07:28 AM.

there was a csting number floating around, something like 1247 something? stamped on the end of the crank behind the dampener that signified the forged crank IIRC, if im not remembering correctly then yeah, i just mean the steel crank
im looking for an 04-06, the original pushrod design 3500 unless that design was pushed to 07 but i thought that was the change? im actually looking for a complete engine though

Some of the 04-06 3500s received cast cranks but I don't believe many did.
All of the VVT 3500s which started in 06 in the Impala have a shortened stroke and the same bore as the 3900, as for a complete engine I have mine on Ebay with the 7x trigger to help pay for the 3900 I bought.

yeah, i deffinetly dont want a VVT setup, sorry, ive been out of it for a while but im trying to get a 3500 by october to build up over the winter
do you have a link to your 3500?
im kind of confused her with what your saying about the 3.9 and so on because IIRC the 3500 didn't have anything in common with the 3900 which had the offset bore and so on...

These engines are still a derivation of the 2.8 with increasing improvement over the previous engines, the 3.6 DOHC is where "nothing in common" is appropriate terminology, and even there we could be mistaken about a thing or two like the piston rods and although different the crank might even fit due to the 60 degree engine design and GM's tendency to use the same design for different applications.
If I'm not mistaken the big block crank for the iron 454 is also used in the aluminum LS7 from what I have seen in searches on Ebay.

The ZL1 was an all aluminum 427 with 430hp in '69 Vettes and 425hp in the Camaros. There were only a handful of cars sold with the ZL1. Very rare. I remember reading that the ZL1 was about 30# lighter than a small block. The LS7 454 was to be the '70s Vettes but never made it into production before the new EPA rules killed compression ratios. It was to have 460hp compared to the 450hp of the LS6 454. I paid $1750 at a Ford dealership for a '70 LS6 Chevelle in '78... talk about torque. Wish I had kept that car but I was young and dumb.MinusOne - 3100 - 4T60E
