  • need suspension part help me out

i think some1 was meddling and threw away a suspension part i now need.

i have no idea what it is called so i will describe it. if you remove the steel plate covering the strut towers, there is a rubber biscuit in there that the strut protrudes through.

anybody have just one of those laying around? or maybe know what it is called and i can check the parts store for it?

I have looked for these parts at the local parts store. They seem to not even show it in there computer systems. Rockauto has it though. But it is like $50. IIRC

There are 2 things in there. One is the mount, which I think you would know what that is.

The other is called a JOUNCE BUMPER.

That goes under the mount, and when your car goes down, it keeps the suspension from bottoming out.

      ACDELCO Part # 5013 {replaces 88946237 #88946237}
BUMPER,FRT SUSP STRUT *SUSPENSION MOUNT; STRUT CUSHION FOR USE WITH THE STRUT/CARTRIDGE/SHOCK; - $13.74

      That was from rock auto.

If you go over there, look in the tabs for SUSPENSION, then under the subcategory of STRUT BUMPER.

I have a feeling that is what you are talking about. Does it look like this (the yellow part)?

nope, i didn't see it at advance but napa and autozone both have it online for 25.99. one calls it a strut mount and i forgot what the other called it.

i'll check tomorrow but i do not think either will have it in stock.

          k.

          Yeah.

The strut mount is the top part, and the bumper is under it.

When you go buy it, you might want to get new bumpers. They tend to rot out, and disintegrate.

i don't think i have any bumpers anymore. i think i had to do away with that stuff when i went to coilover.

Check out the second link. Does that look like what you're talking about? If so Advance DOES have them. Listed under "Chassis". Here's the link:

That picture does NOT match what they really look like. This is the way they really look:

They don't seem to be heavy duty, you'd have to order them, they DID have these in stock. I have never noticed any ill effects from not being heavy duty. I've replaced these in my 99 Lumina and my 93 Z34 and both cars used the same part number. They go for $26.46 each.
I've got a couple from the 99 that have about 77,000 miles on them. I'm sure they are still good, they look mint, but no guarantees. If you want I'll send one to you. As far as shipping goes, I will owe you shipping when the timing tools are done, just call it even?? As far as the part itself, call it a birthday present. I have spares, how many do I really need??
I still have the address that I sent payment for the tools to.
