nice. that would cetainly be better than the 3400 swap, if there wasnt a ton of rewiring to do. wonder if it would work insyead of the 3400.

    i like this quote
So instead I just bought a used Honda Reflex scooter (ok stop laughing) for some instant gratification and fun this summer, assuming I can stay on the pavement and out of the hospital

I can't wait until someone figures out about the VVT issue. Then just bolt up the external crank trigger (might need something for 24x too on SFI cars). Run the 3500vvt intake or figure out a way to make the variable intake work with a window switch or somethign.

We have, partly my fault for keeping a running volly with CNCGuy through PMs instead of posting in the thread. We have found someone to resize the cam journals on the cams from the pre-3900 engines so that they can be installed in it to allow conversion to the non VVT cam and timing chain. I however want to use the VVT so I will explore its working characteristics for my planned install.

CNC mentioned a concern about the way Delt cam sized the journals that now that I think about it I wonder if there will be a problem with it possibly walking a little in the block. I'll have to have them make sure they don't put a taper on the front journal when I send mine in.

As for the motors on Ebay, if you don't live in town with them the shipping will make it a worthless cause by increasing the price to what you can walk into a salvage yard and purchase them for. Almost $600 to ship to my home in Florida.

You can possibly find someone who would transport it for you for less than half what a normal freight company would. You never know... Really depends on what is available in your area I guess.

So far I have a couple of choices lined up within 30 miles of home for around $750. I'm just hoping the prices get better as the engine keeps becoming more and more abundant, since I plan on purchasing a micro cut plasma cutter ~$750 to top off my tool collection, then fabricating my one off project parts will be limited mostly by my imagination.

Somebody found my ebay gem. I've been watching that auction and talked to the seller. He won't disclose the reserve so... Also for freight it really helps if you have a family business with a loading dock

I bought 6K mile 3900 with 4T65E, wiring harness and ECM for $600 on Ebay. Shipping was around $275 from California to Dayton OH since we had a forklift to unload it. (The tranny may be available since I plan to use a 42LE tranny for my next project.)

Joseph gets all the credit on resizing the camshaft journals. He did all the legwork, I just used the info he had.

I keep getting closer to finishing the 3900.... got the cam, springs and retainers. Still waiting on the 10 deg locks and teflon valve seals. The cam is the same as the 1393 listed in the store but will have .560 lift with the 1.7 Rocker Ratio. I am also looking for a LZ4 UIM to mount on it for testing. Later I will look into a stamp processor to operate the variable intake.

Oil passage location on the front journal is a concern since the 3900 cams have a wider journal than previous models. This puts the oil hole close to the rear edge of the narrower journal. I have pretty high hopes for this engine and if things go as planned I will make some billet cam blanks that will resolve this issue as well as the VVT.

Another issue that needs to be resolved for swaps is the coolant return system since the 3900 has U-flow cooling.

Schram is high dollar... they have had a few listed in the $1300 range.
