i am thinking of selling my "backup" engine. it is a mildly modded lq1 in great shape.
runs strong, good compression, good power. it is the original engine that came out of my 94 gtp. i personally put about 10k on it be4 swapping in a completely built engine and decided to keep this one as a contingency. i am in a space crunch again and could also use some dough for more R&D as well.
but do not get confused, i am not desperate or anything so no lowball offers, you will be wasting your time if u do. next i will not part it, so do not ask.
now for the good stuff: it comes with almost everything. i will include one of my good spare PS pumps, a spare set of coilpacks and ign module, a 96 bracket, the intake has been modded for a tb coolant bypass as well as an egr delete, i'll throw in an alt, i also installed a set of 96-97 valve covers, included is a good stock hm-284 clutch pressure plate and flywheel and/or a good 4t60e with flexplate that i cannot seem to give away, an untested a/c compressor(i think it works but cannot say for sure), crosspipe, serpentine belt if i can find it and plugs wit about 40% life left.
the topend was rebuilt by the previous owner including new timing belt stuff(then, it has a few miles on it now but still has about 66% life left on them) and the heads were cleaned up with new valve seals in them. also i think by looking at the flats that he MIGHT have done a cam timing change but cannot say for sure. also you'll need not worry about the dist plug, it didn't leak to begin with but i still put a bead of liquid gasket on the top so it should never leak for a LOOOONG time.
what it needs: does not have plug wires, a knock sensor(sorry i needed one for my other engine ), a serpentine tensioner pulley(just the pulley the arm is there and works fine, i needed the bearing out of the pulley for my billet one) intake gaskets as i had to pull the intake to pull the engine, it needs a throwout bearing if u go that route, it needs a front exhaust manifold and gaskets for it.
depending on your needs, if you plan on doing a 96-97 intake swap later i will leave the coilpack bracket stock or if u want i can modify the bracket to work with the intake on there. your choice.
lastly, regardless of what parts you do not want the price stays the same, your savings will be in shipping.
i am looking to get $500 plus shipping which i think is a modest price for what you are getting. i'll post up pics if there is any interest as lq1's do not appear to be hot on the market.
p.s. for $650 i'll throw in a 99% complete 96-97 intake conversion. while the egr bypass is on the exhaust manifold, i do not have a plate for the intake but i can include a simple cap to plug the one hole. this will be in addition to the 94 intake you already get. this offer only applies to this purchase, cannot be purchased seperately or substituted for the intake that comes with the engine.
