  • oil supply location for turbo, FILTERED OIL OR NOT

hi, ive got my 3400 in a 3rd gen 2000 5 spd cav and was wondering where i can get a oil tap location for the turbo supply (after the filter)...

i see a plug to the top right of where the oil filter connects to the block, i think i want to use this one. there is another location (same as where the stock oil pressue switch attaches to but it looks like this galley runs right to the oil pump, which makes me believe it has not been filtered. can someone tell me if the spot above the oil filter location is filtered or not (i believe it is but wanted to make sure)

I would take the oil sending unit out. Make a "T" and put the sending unit on the one end of the "T" and then put an oil line from other end of "T" to an inline oil filter and continue to route the line.

I've ran unfiltered oil through the turbo, and not had a problem. Ideally yes, filtered would be best.

the TGP engine uses this location for turbo oil supply, above and to the left of the oil filter on the block:

the turbo'd LH0 in my Cutlass had a plug there originally - i just had to remove it and put the line on. my 3400 also came with a plug there and will be removed to serve as an oil source for the turbo as well. although, if you T'd it from the oil pressure sensor location as 1988GTU mentioned you'd probably have an 8" shorter oil supply line.

McMaster.com has an in line oil filter with a 40micron filter included for like $8

i would suggest that for precaution.

i use the oil pressure sender hole and T it off. i dont use the stock oil pressure sender, i have a oil pressure gauge that shows actual pressure instead of a dummy light.
