on the shifts getting soft, change the fluid. i would suggest type f trans fluid cause it is a little thicker and will provide for firmer shifts. but if u want to stick with dexron thats fine

Don't put Type F in your trans, unless you want it to die. The stuff worked like crap back in the day, and it doesn't have the proper friction modifiers for the friction material in your trans. You'll be burning up your clutch packs. Also, don't get the B&m Trick Shift either, better known as Trick Shit. Better yet, if it says B&M stay the hell away from it.

I don't know what trans guy you talk to. But, in a street application you don't run it. I am ATRA and A2 ASE certified. Both deal with auto trans. I also have a person that I rely on when I have questions regarding transmissions, and he has 30+ years of experience with them. Type F, is a high friction fluid, which is why it is found mostly in race applications that are operating on different friction materials than what is in there from the factory and also old C4, C6 trans in Fords. This is a direct quote from AMSOIL regarding Type F, "Type F is not recommended as a replacement for Ford Mercon, GM Dexron, or Chrysler ATF+ type fluids in passenger vehicles and truck transmissions as it may cause erratic shift patterns, chattering or noise. AMSOIL is not responsible for transmission performance inconsistent with those specifications listed, where no modifications have been made from the original maufacturer's design." If these problems seem an acceptable risk to take, then by all means go right ahead and use it.

Don't worry, I don't plan on doing anything as stupid as changing the type of fluid in my trans. There's a reason they tell you to use a certain type, and switching fluids isn't going to help my shifts. I changed my fluid and filter last spring, and I used mobil1 synthetic fluid of the same grade as the OEM fluid, so I know it's still in good shape. Anyway, this is a thread about nitrous guys. If we want to start a trans arguement lets do it somewhere else.

              just installed today

i just finished a 50 shot on my 94 z-34, i have a carb plate setup(NOS powershot) laying around from a trade so i bought a fogger nozzle(29.95), and a few lines which were expensive(about 15-20 a piecei needed 4). i took it on a maiden voyage i noticed a speed increase. like usually when i go from 2 to 3 @6000 i am going between 70 and 72. after the fact it was about 83 to 85 but the tranny shifted later than 6000(maybe 6300-6500). i was told to use 37 nitrous and 22 gas as far as jets go (8bucks a piece).

me personally, i noticed an increase in engine temp nothing critical but i am going to take preventative steps: switching to synthetic oil, and probably a high flow water pump(if a replacement is not available i might opt for an inline auxiliary pump or something).

i haven't got an et yet but i will soon as i can get to the strip.

here is the total from the catalog edlebrock performer kit(for carbs) $349, nozzle 29.95, jets if not included in kit $16.the lines however are dependant on u i wanted to go stealth so i had to buy extras, but from the picture in the catalog u will need to buy 1 4an line to go from the test port(u will need to remove the valve in the port; either use a tire valve stem remover or a pair of hemostats) to the fuel solenoid $20. total is 414.95 without shipping. absolute cheapest way to go i think. and you might get a few bucks back from selling the carb plate.
