  • NOS for a 3.4

Who has done this? Who sells the setup? I was thinking about this as an option, I already have sunk a ton of $$$ into this car whats more right? Maybe a rebuild after a few NOS runs too.

No really who has this setup? I would like to look into it. After driving my TGP the GTP seems to lack the instant power I want.

i use a nos big shot set up ... i got the intake at the tubes tapped and the injectors ran there ... i got the 3.4 top end from a 95 camaro and the injectors shot right into the head along with the gas ... it is a wet setup it only adds 30 to 40 % more power ... i also got the worlds worst plumbing set up ...

NX makes a kit for GM cars. I used it on my 2.8. Its a wet system that uses a nozzle just before the TB. Its activated via a WOT swtich. I went through twenty 10lb bottles in one summer, and the car still drives fine. The fuel comes off the schrader valve on the fuel rail. 50 shot on my stock 2.8 broght me to a 14.5

This is about the best shot I have of it, still kinda sucks..

I have a picture on my "W-bodies" page of my site, the WWW tab, that shows a under hood pic and a side veiw pic of a Z34 with NOS. Quick car, but he trashed it, without the NIS he wasn't anywhere near me. His best 1/4 was a 14.02 with a 50 shot. Automatic too

I've got a NOS universal single fogger nozzle "wet" kit. It's pretty nice and it'll work any pretty much any car. Adds 35-75hp depending on the jetting. I don't have mine jetted right yet though 'cause my air/fuel ratio curve is all off because of my blower. Starts off rich in the low end and leans out too much at the top end. The nitrous setup I got cost about $1000 but I got all the extras (purge, bottle heater, etc). Basic kits costs around $650.

              What kind of car?

              A Z34, with a 3.4 DOHC, a blower, and NOS should be running 12s, not mid 14s.

2000 grand am gt. Blame the quarter times on the weight and the auto tranny. It started out running low 16's, then ran 15.1 first time with the SC. Eventually got it down to 14.4 with some more work. I've been doing a lot of work on it but the times aren't going down because of traction and tuning problems. The NOS kit is little more than decoration right now 'cause I can't jet it right. The air/fuel ratio changes thru out the rev range. I'm working on it.

Ok without NJOS than that sounds reasonable. A guy in town here put a roots blower on his Alero 3400, and ti helped a lot, but he could BARELY beat my car, and with my rebuild, there is no way he could have. It sounded awesoem though.

The 3400 is a good motor, but doesn't have much for racing. IT runs out of power at 5000, each shift makes it lose more and more ground. Now ti can be a good racing motor, but as far as I am concerned, the 3.4 TDC is superior.

And with mods, the L67 is no slouch either. Mods will raise max power, makign it smooth up to redline, instead of tapering off. I shift out of 2nd at 6500 now instead of 7, but in an auto you can't do that.

Check out the "NOSzle" forum that was posted in Preformance DOHC.

Must be the automatic that is holding back the 3400... mine pulls easily right up to the rev-limiter (6200)

Yeah, the automatic doesn't help. I wouldn't say the rev limiter has anything to do with it though. Mine's re-programmed and redline's at 6300, shifts at 6200. The problem really has to do with the shifts being too soft and taking too long. The auto is easy to launch off the line, but it loses speed between shifts farther down the track. What I really need is a shift kit. Also with the amount of power I'm making my 60' times would benefit from an LSD. I'm just waiting for those parts to become available.

What 60' time did you pull? Low 2s?

why does everyone always say that a auto car can't shift at or past 7k cause mine does. o and u need a shift kit for your 4t40e/4t45e? i can make one for u but i would want to put it in and that invovles puling the valve body. not easy to get to. u might try that trans interceptor that they make?

                              dykz34, my best 60' is a 2.18. Normally I get a 2.2-2.3.

4spdz34, I never said you couldn't shift an auto past 7000rpm. I don't know if I could or couldn't, I just know my engine won't rev that high without balanced internals. Domestic performance is supposed to be making some transmission parts for the 4T45E in a turbo grand am, so I'm waiting to see what they come out with and how they work. The trans interceptor wouldn't really do anything for me, since it only increases the line pressure. My line pressure was already upped by DHP. They re-programmed my PCM and the tranny program was nice for a while, but over time my shifts softened up again and got a LOT slower. I don't know if it's just the trans slipping, or if the program changed somehow. I've reset the PCM and it doesn't help.
