  • Interesting Article, History

    Hey guys,
I dunno if this is a repost or whatever but I found it to be VERY interesting. Go to www.tubrodriven.com and click on the history link. Who knew borg-warner made turbo's?
    Peace,
    Jeremiah
Tuning a car is full of compromises. You must decide if you are willing to give up either reliability, performance, or a whole load of cash. Also remember that repairs will seem to come up much more often as you strive for even more performance

pics? Sounds pretty cool, but I heard that IHI turbos are almost useless as they top out at around 15-18lbs. of boost. Is this true?

You can make tons of power without ever going above 15psi. Absolute presure capability is pretty much useless when it comes to judging a turbo.

The maximum flow of almost ANY turbo usualy tops at about 15psi-20psi at seal level or 2 bar or 2.36bar. But that doen't mean your engine is going to make most power at 15psi guage...your engine will flow less then what the turbo pressure is trying to flow at that pressure..so you have to up the boost to shoe horn more air...Turbo calculators come in haddy here. My unit flows up to the 3.25bar range..or 33psi !!! Air flow....LOL..this thing was for a 6.6L diesel..and those Duramax can propel the truck into the mid 12s!
