sorry, when people post 3.4, i think dohc

if you mean the 3400, then say the 3400, lol

either way, i still wouldnt put an "all T3" turbo on the 3400, hell, i wouldnt put one on the 3100.

the t3's just arent able to flow well enough IMO

      Its not a 3400 either. Its a 3.4 in a Camaro. Hence the guy's name... Camaroman1181

lol.. yeah, i do have a camaro.. if it shows up, its also my avatar image.. so its def. a 3.4. i havent tried the "hybrid aluminum head swap" nor do i plan to.
but yeah, you raised an interesting point. somehow my dumbass had failed to see that it was infact a t3.. that shall be too small for what im looking to accomplish. maybe MAYBE with the .83 a/r, itd be close. I had just assumed itd be a t4 cause it was mated to a 60-1. i hadnt seen anything but t4's on the 60-1 in my searches. so yeah, thanks for bringing that up.. and ruining my satisfaction of finding a good turbo at a decent price.. lol..

UH>>>that is a t4/t3 hybrid your looking at. ITS a t4 compressor side with the T04B-60-1 wheel and housing. THe turbine side is a T3 with a stage 3 wheel and avalible t3 housings. Highly recomend the .83.

If your not sure of your VE Use 90-100% VE and then plug it in.

Well anyway....http://www.stealth316.com/2-3s-compflowmaps.htm#i this is a good site..every useful at picking a turbo. I would plug in the numbers for your compressor map..but its your homework..hehe. enjoy.

There's a 60-1 hifi (T04B compressor and T3 turbine) and a normal 60-1 (full T04B). The 60-1 hifi will work, but IMO the turbine will be too small. It should spool quickly though. The 60-1 T4 version will be better, but don't expect spool until at least 4000 rpm. I would go with a GT35R. It will make as much power as the 60-1, but should spool VERY quickly.

The price of the GT35R makes me depressed. However, with all the money he is dumping into the engine it shouldn't be a problem there and thus is highly recommended by myself as well.

yeah man, id love that gt35r but the ones ive seen are at least double what i've been alocating for my turbo. I'll prolly go with the 60-1 with the t-3 on it to spool faster. I'm not planning on revving this over 6k so spooling at 4 isnt what i'm lookin for. in any case, i thank you all for your help. i shall keep researching this until i finally make up my mind as to what i want..

GR35R's seem to go for around $1100. I've seen 60-1 hifi's for about $700-800. If you want some good places to buy a turbo, check out http://www.honda-tech.com They seem to have the best deals around.

yeah, i've been looking at that site.. found some decent deals there..
now, im curious.. what exaclty is the main difference btwn the 60-1/t3 and the gt35r? ball bearing? are the wheels better in the one? cnc vs cast wheels?

I believe the modernizations in the design of turbos allows the gt35r to be better. More efficient wheels over a larger range, better flow, faster spool, and of course ball bearings.

yup, that pretty much sums it up.

http://www.turbobygarrett.com has a few sheets that compare their new GT series with their older T series.

ssautochrome's turbos have been known to be...exciting...but people on here have used them without trouble, the specs look pretty good in my opinion

thats the one I bought. I had a hard time finding the flanges, ssautochrome did'nt have them I checked 4 or 5 different companies and then went to a machine shop, where the dude must have been smoking crack, he wanted $400 for 2 flanges. I ended up making them out of 1/2 inch plate steel, 18v power drill, and a die grinder. I finished one so far. kind of a pain in the ass. should have the second one done this weekend if I get time. other than that the turbo looks good and should be good sized. I'm using it on a 3100.
