  • Turbo Calculation Questions A/R Spool up time etc.

I'll try and make this as brief and to the point as I can. I've done a bunch of work finding the calculations for corectly sizing turbos to an engine. My current questions are how does teh A/R effect these calculations. And is there any way of estimating spool up time, or different boost levels and the different RPM's? How are the calculations for twin turbo set ups different from single turbo setups?

    Thanks.

There seems to be a pattern there.

The smaller the A/R, the quicker the spool and the less top end power and engine is capable of making. Bigger A/R's can be a bit more laggy, but offer improved top end power. The key is finding the right one for your goals. The good news is that turbne housings are easily swapped so you could try a few different a/r's.
