  • Turbo Questions

Okay. I am in the process now of mounting the twin turbo's into my fiero, and just have a couple of questions. I am going to be running an emulator, and am actually saving the money up to get one now. So in the meantime, to be able to both work on my car and have it move under it's own power I have a few questions.

If I mount the twin turbo's, finish the exhaust, but do not connect them to the intake, will it damage the turbo's with the compressor side freewheeling open like this??

Which size injectors should I roll with?? (when I connect the compressor side to the intake) I am running a 3100sfi (old styleintake and heads) in a 84 fiero se with a 4spd standard. I am running the pcm out of a 92 w-body (27, I think)

    Thanks in advance guys.

    RE: Turbo Questions

Should prolly find some way to cover up the compressor sides to keep critters out of there, but I don't see any other way they could get damaged. It depends how much boost you plan on running but most people boosting 3x00's seem to go for 30 to 36 lb/hr injectors.

if there isnt anything presurized, your wastegates wont open and you will ruin the turbos, exceed theire rev limit. even boost controllers need to know what pressure or vac is going on to control the turbos rpm. either keep the gates open, or bypass the turbos altogether. if you run the exhaust through them as a normal running setup and not hook up the intake side, there isnt any signals for he rest to work by. they will over rev and fly to peices.

        Turbo Questions

        Alright, that answers my question.

Anyone know what engines come with 30 pound injectors??

Just for the sake of argument, say that I mount the turbo's, plumb the intake (compressed) together and throught the IC, then out to a pipe with a restrictor on it with the blow off valve mounted just before the restrictor. And then connect the blow off valve vacuum feed to the intake manifold, and the wastegate actuators to the tube just before the IC, would it work??
        I mean, not blow up??

Eh, frig it, I'll just finish it if I get it to that point.

          RE: Turbo Questions

You can get ford 30# injectors pretty easy on ebay.

I completely forgot the wastegate issue lol. I think it'd be easier to just hold the wastegates open than to do whatever you just suggested. All you have to do is unhook them and pivot a hinge thing, if you want to get technical you can wire it to something to insure it doesn't close, but without a spring holding them closed they'd prolly just swing open regardless.

yah injectors i would get on ebay, i take it you have internal wastegates? just open them and not boost simple as that. running around over spinning the turbo's will make them die quickly. yes with nothing holding them closed they'll swing open. i drove my car once boosting into the air but i kept the rpms down and it was only to school and back.
