  • 3.1 TGP bin runing a 3.4 DOHC

    Has anyone moded a 3.1 tpg bin to run a 3.4 dohc? i;m currently in the process of doing it, and just wanted to know if anyone else has done it and could help me out

    You have a 5spd..that is a walk in the park conpaired to a member here doing it to the Auto intergration. He was thinking of going OBDII last time I remmebered. You should be oright..Just hit up GMPCM for the 5spd patch file for the 8f code. I think it mods the TCC tables for shift light???not sure about that. THe guy (i can't remember your name..sorry..been a while) that did the conversion should be here.

      TGP bin

      Go over to www.fiero.nl and look for Darth Fiero. Ryan is a great guy and has done the mods to the bin you want. He is really reasonable and very helpful. Hope that helps.

        isnt there a cam sensor on the tdc motor? or is that just used for injector timing (sfi)?

          i did the converison to 5 spd, and also a turbo set up http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/369376/1
          and nope theres not a cam sesnor,

                  yeah Darth burned my 3.1TGP chip to run my 3.4dohc -- i am not runnign boost to it yet and just got it fired up last night.. i'll be in contact with him and I test it and if there is any tuning necessary.

                    not on 91-93 engines, but 94-96 were sfi and have a cam sensor - its only used for sfi so when using the TGP ecm and running it as mpfi you can plug it.

                      kool, my car is going to get dyno and start tuneing maybe this week, so i'll be gettin some #'s soon,

                        my car got dyno tonight, and my highist run was 212 front wheel hp, @ 7.5 psi with #36 injectors, with a a/f ratio at 12:1, and that was with cat back stock exhaust,

                          Those are some good numbers! I see you got your A/F ratio stright. Got a graph of the dyno?

                          What looks like to me is that you need more turbo. I saw on your site you had what looked like an early regal turbo. It looks like the one used on late 70s. They used a electric feedback Q-jet instead of FI. It has like 5 or 6 bolts on the inlet housing don't it?. I think it was a .45 a/r turbo. The turbine hosings are .80 I think. You need a t04 compressor setup. The turbine is fine. BUT overall...its awsome.

                            actually, that turbo behav's great on that motor, it doesn;t start build boost until around 3, right were the power band starts anyways, and keeps a constant boost right to redline, but i was haveing problems with my stock exhaust for restriction last night, it is just too small after the cat, and one of the mufflers is starting to developed a hole in it, i think it got 6 bolts on it, the turbo was off of a 83 regal T-type, the exhuast a/r is .83, i forget what the compressor side is, and i forgot to get a print out, next time i go i will, i got small video of one pull, when i learn how to upload i will,
