seriously, some say they add performance, but $135 is NOT worth it. You've gotta realize you can pick one of these blower motors up for less then $50 at any electronics surpluss store.

That's what I thought. I would never pay that kind of money for something it is probably more of a restriction than a performance upgrade. I was looking for a Vortech SC when I came across about 11,000 of these damn things. Like I said, I don't think it'd be anywhere near wothwhile, unless you want to be the gay kid on the block. I know someone who wants to put one on his 03 Neon with a bodykit and stickers up the ass.

well, if you had a small SMALL engine, you may be able to get away with it, but the guys who sell the ONLY one which I've seen work even slightly well required you to add 4 batteries to power the unit, and it'd only provide useable boost for 20 - 45 seconds at a time (and uses 3 starter motors to power it) if that tells you the power requirement to actually move enough air for an engine.

I need to find a tech question from Hot Rod about this from awhile back... To sum it up (until I find the scan), to get a decent amount of power out of an electric SC, you'd need an electric motor basically the size of the engine with a power source the size of a semi trailer.
Use the rule of 2 with these things +2psi at idel and -2psi at WOT.

This comes up every now and then, I think we determined them to be junk. I can't find the thread, but someone here went into detail about how a supercharger and turbo actually compress the air, and these things are just blowers. It turns out that they actually hurt performance by interupting the air flow into the motor.
A guy with a Lumina LS 3.4 DOHC is using one and he has recorder the second fastest time in an auto so far. He calculated his to be making just over 1psi of boost, and ran CONSISTENTLY 3 tenths faster with it than without. I watched him run these too. As long as his battery was full, it worked fine and the car definately pulled harder.
So while they do sound like they are worthless, he did tests at the 1/4mi to prove it.
I have only heard that jeff in atlanta has dyno tested one of those on a 3100 and got 10 hp from it. I haven't seen anything more on this though. I can see it helping but not really giving boost to the motor.
