I'm just wondering if anyone has tried to use a powerdyne supercharger and one of our V6. I was looking at a belt driven type, that produces a max boost of 9PSI. the belt type uses no oil, if i read things right, but they do have a gear driven which uses engine oil to lube it. I was just wondering cause with no oil lines it would make instalation much easer.

LOL anyway, oil lines actually aren't that hard at all to run. But I don't think you read it right, every supercharger, well roots type that is, has some gears on its insides and uses oil. I tend to side with the oens that have a seperate oiling system, that don't use engine oil. Engine oil is hot, plus using actual gear oil is better for the supercharger. We are using GM synchromesh in our Weind SBC blower.
I think the belt drive just meant that it uses the engines serpentine system to actually turn the rotors.

As usual, Aaron showing his ignorance... Norm is using a belt Powerdyne SC in his Beretta. Here is a thread (that was 5 threads below this one) about it:
Not sure if it shows the SC in that thread, but I know in the links to Beretta NET, it has pics. It even shows a pic of what a torn up belt looks like.-Brad-

thanks bszopi for the help, I know a superchargerruner off a belt, thanks not what i ment. there is a belt inside the supercharger so it makes it a really guiet running supercharger. I'll look into those links!

Actually, Powerdyne makes a "Belt driven" supercharger as in the impeller is "over driven" and turned VIA a belt INSIDE the supercharger, rather then using gears to mesh the two togehter, it allows it to slip some so you don't overboost your charger and just send in superheated air. They also have a gear driven one that is self oiled and never needs maintenence.

Dave, the Powerdyne BD-11's internal belt is a cog belt and does not slip. The are no internal lubricants need for the BD-11 unit. The new Powerdyne X-11 is a similar setup like Vortec using the engine's oil. Procharger holds it's own oil and needs changing every 3K miles. Vortec uses motor oil to lubricate it's interal gears. It also bleeds off boost to atomize oil for gear lubrication.
Without hot motor oil going through the blower it should yield a lower compressed air tempature.

I know the M62's, M90's, and M112's all have a reservior in them for oil. It just lubricates the gears that connect the snout to the rotors, but that is all the oil is used for. GM says that it should never be changed, although its a good idea to do it every 50k or so. (supposedly those blowers are maintenance free)
